YT’s steel Dirt Love dirt jump bike has been around since the beginning. It was literally 150 of this bike that started YT Industries. Of course, YT has since progressed to many more advanced and progressive mountain bikes. But the purely simple 26″ steel dirt jumper still holds a soft place in their heart, and now a new bulletproof Core 1 build of the bike brings the cost of entry down again.

We already covered the classic 26″ hydroformed chromoly steel singlespeed hardtail when it made a resurgent reissue four years ago for its 10-year anniversary, with an integrated seat clamp and two frame sizes – regular or long.

And really, not much has changed – same geometry, still a BSA BB, external cable routing, 135mm bolt-on rear track end dropouts with integrated tensioners, and a 20mm Boost thru-axle fork with no front brake mounted. That’s the beauty of a nearly indestructible steel bike built to be tossed around in the air.

What’s new though, YT has added a second complete build kit that keeps the cost of entry low, even as new prices for everything climb. So, it might be easier to justify buying a dedicated bike for pumptrack training sessions, or to dial in your big jump aerial maneuvers.

The new black YT Dirt Love Core 1 now sells for $1400 / 1400€ a fully tunable 100mm Manitou Circus Expert fork, a SRAM Level TL rear brake, Race Face Chester cockpit, and YT wheels laced with tubeless-ready DT rims & spokes. Weight still stays pretty low at a claimed 11.8kg/26lb for the burly spec.

And if your budget gives you more to play with, you could also upgrade to the wasabi green $1600 / 1600€ YT Dirt Love Core 2 that just upgrades to a lighter 100mm RockShox Pike DJ fork (but with 15×100 axle) with the same wheels, plus slightly more premium SRAM/Truvativ Descendant alloy cranks, bar & stem. To be honest, it doesn’t look like a big upgrade over the new more affordable dirt jumper, but it does trim the weight back to a claimed 11.1kg/24.5lb (weights set up tubeless without pedals).
