The latest from artist Thomas Yang in his unique 100 copies cycling-themed print series is this new Tour de World piece. Starting off with a World map, this 35th work in his limited edition series rearranges the map to give a sense of how people from all over the world can come together as cyclists. Yang see this as chance to show how together in solidarity, cyclists worldwide can have a positive impact on the flight to save our planet’s environment, with the reshuffle of the countries a metaphor for the potential for change and the power of the bicycle.

Shuffle past the break for some more images, price, and availability…

Sure the Equirectangular map projection results in a few wonky countries, and some scale irregularities, but Yang had to start somewhere. See if you can find your country and where it fits into the cyclist. Unfortunately it seems that a few continents didn’t really get broken up, but maybe we can put that aside to appreciate the work as a whole.

As always the prints are going fast,  with just half remaining this morning. There will still only be a total of 100 numbered prints, so act fast if you would like to hang one of these $90 signed and numbered silhouette lithograph prints on your wall.

The scale is even more off that what the projection does, but that’s fine, my country got way inflated. Cool piece.
