A Vetta computer rounds things out. The white Nokon cables get a little gold bling inserted for fun.

Until Shimano jumps on the BB30 bandwagon, such bikes will require a 3rd party adapter. Here, they’ve used custom etched Endura BB adapters.

How’d you’d like to look over and read that while standing in the start gate?

BB92 is better then BB30 for mountain bikes. Shimano should not join.

“Fully built with pedals, computer, etc., it’s weighing in at 20.5 lbs ready to race. ”

I’m gonna assume the water bottle and cage (and BB adapters) are added in to that weight.
99% of the time weights given are for the smallest size, sans cages, pedals, and accessories.

It will get interesting if/when UCI starts imposing weigh limits on mt and cx bikes.

@pete: too narrow for fat tires and full suspension. BB92 works fine and cranks are backward compatible.

@GILLIS: the uci has a weight limit for all biles.. for mountain bikes its the same as road bikes, 14.99lbs or 9.8KG
this is a beautiful bike may not be the lightest but its all tried and true equipment. this bikes bullet proof

Makes me wish I had a super light XC bike to rip around on…though not for the descents.

Where is the computer speed sensor?
Looks like its a blank headunit that does nothing other than be yellow and say “Vetta”

A good friend of mine who raced for a couple of years on Credit Agricole said “the #1 thing a pro looks for is dependability”. Catherine’s bike is built to go from the start to finish race after race…well, except for the Nokon housing. I think Gore cables and housing would be a more dependable choice.

My mountain bike is lighter, but she would still drop me on her easy day.

Tough times we live in when a 20.5 pound front suspended mountain bike is considered heavy, Which of the top girls rides a lighter bike?

20.5lbs is pretty damn light for a bike with SLRs and substantial tires.

@Shredder: Pretty sure Irina Kalentieva’s bike is lighter, but she is tiny. I agree though, 20.5 lbs is a great mix of light/durable. Nothing on that bike is just going to fail, and it looks great to boot.

@erik. The uci weight limit is 6.8kg, or 14.96lb.

20.5lbs, eh? xc courses must be the same as cross courses now. i don’t get it.

@WannaBeSTi — The Orbea Alma (both 26 and 29) uses Orbea’s DCR cable system, which requires Gore cables and sheaths (you’ll notice it in the seat-tube pic of the top of the front der.). The Gore sheath starts at the shifter and feeds through the five mm Nokon housing.

That head tube angle look wrong, or is it just me?

Am I the only one who doesn’t like the looks of this bike? I count 11 colors (black, white, silver, orange, yellow, red, two shades of gold, ano blue, ano red, and ano pink) without even counting the overdone WC rainbow.

Thanks Erik & Me. Didn’t know it applied to mtbs.
@When, it’s just you. looks fine to me. me thinks you’ve been looking at too many AM and DH bikes 😉
@Brendan: I’m not too keen on its paint job either. While I wouldn’t turn it down if I earned it, I find most WC paint jobs to be overdone and fugly.

@Phatpants My Cdale Flash with the same 2012 SLRs and fatter 2.25 tires comes in at 17.9lbs.

re: Brendan

I think this bike looks like a slutty cougar in a Miami hotel lounge.

I sold Orbea’s for some time actually, they’ve always had a thing for flash.

See: 2008 Orbea Orca, it’s sexy, like, you know it wasn’t designed by someone with an engineering degree.
