2015 Campagnolo Bora Ultra and Bora One carbon clincher road bike wheels specs and weights

This summer, Campagnolo’s top level Bora wheels were redesigned to be wider, lighter and have better braking performance. But they were still tubular only, as has always been the case for that model.

But even Campy admits not every top rider wants to deal with glue or the risk of being stranded (or carrying the spare and paraphernalia to use it). So, they’ve finally introduced a clincher version with the same options. Choose from 35mm or 50mm depths and Ultra or One trim levels. Both use a 24.2mm wide (UPDATE: 17.4mm internal width) rim with the 3Diamant braking surface they say offers equal stopping performance to alloy rims. Wheelset weights are around 200g more than the tubulars, and you can catch all the tech and closeups below…

Claimed weights are:

  • Bora Ultra 35 Clincher – 1360g
  • Bora Ultra 50 Clincher – 1435g
  • Bora One 35 Clincher – 1406g
  • Bora One Clincher – 1485g

Both versions use the 3Diamant braking surface. They’re using the new, lighter waterslide graphics as well, available in bright or dark versions.

The key differences are at the hubs. The Ultra uses carbon hub shells and their premium CULT ceramic bearings. The One series has alloy hub shells and USB ceramic bearings.

They also had this beautiful pink Giro-themed Canyon road bike in the booth, showing the custom color options for pro teams to coordinate their components to the bikes.

That isn’t just any pink bike. That is Nairo’s Giro winning bike if it is the same one that was at IB! The other side of the top tube has his name plate.

I’d love to see a cross-section of the new Bora 50 clincher.

i believe these wheels are also officially tubeless compatible, making these some of the very few carbon rims that are. i cant think of another at the moment…

@ Greg: Much of the 2015 Reynolds line will be tubeless compatible as well.

There are a bunch of new tubeless deep carbon rims for 2015. Reynolds midrange stuff, easton aero, dt swiss, even farsports has some tubeless ready rims. None are this light though.

Corima also used to offer a tubeless CF rim (they may still offer it) and also offered the same rim badged as a Hutchinson. Neither the Campy website nor the specs in the pics above, however, say anything about these rims being tubeless compatible.

So when are these gonna come out as Fulcrums so I can use them on my Shimano bikes?

@McClain, you can already use Campy wheels on Shimano bikes. You need only buy the Shimano freehub from Campy.

I’m not sure where you heard that but these have no official tubeless recommendations or certifications.

Installed some tubeless tires on a pair of these today and they set up first time and held air with no need for a rim strip. Although not specified as tubeless it does seem like the rim bed was designed with tubeless tires in mind.

Are you able to give us a long term review of using these wheels Tubeless?
Thanks
