A few weeks back, we showed you some up close teaser images of Mason Cycle’s upcoming road bikes, and now we’ve got the first look at the complete bike studio shots from Julian Ward.

The blue bike is the Resolution Columbus steel frame, and the black bike is Definition Dedacciai aluminium. Both are shown with the Shimano 105 build with hydraulic disc brakes. Other options include 105/TRP Spyre Mechanical, Ultegra Hydro/Mechanical, and Ultegra Di2/Hydro. A DuraAce Di2/Hydro build is available as a special order.

Check out other build details and closeups…

From Dom Mason: “We are using the excellent Fabric saddles and bar tape and Deda bars, headset and stem. Post and clamp are Mason and wheels are the Hunt x Mason items. Tyres are Conti.”

The full story on the brand is in our first post, but the short of it is this: The brand was launched by Dominic Mason, who had designed frames for Kinesis for many years. Frames are designed in-house in their UK offices, then hand made and painted in Italy.

There’s a lot of shaping (and interesting shapes) considering the frames are aluminum and steel.

The tubeless ready hoops are a custom build from fellow upstart Hunt Bike Wheels, check those out here.

A stunning bike. Enough with those zip-ties and clip-one to route cables. Steel and Ti bike builders should imitate Mason’s innovations, quickly!

Truly beautiful bikes. Will they be available in the U.S.?

please stop using the word “Alloy” to describe aluminum frames. Steel is an alloy too.

@lander

There’s no need to be pedantic. “Alloy” is commonly-used and widely-accepted shorthand for aluminum in the cycling world.

The bikes look ace- I’ve long admired (from afar) Mason’s work on the Kinesis line.

Those are really hot for disc brake bikes. Do they make rim brake frames? Super nice looking paint.

Didn’t Kinesis make the BikesDirect frames that all the LBS shophands and snobs make fun of?

@Lander

I’m with you buddy. Drives me nuts when anyone uses “alloy” for aluminum.

Call me Mr. Pedantic, but industry accepted shorthand for Aluminium would be Alu, not Alloy. 🙂

Really nice looking bikes though!

In Taiwan they call it alloy, so we shall do the same. Sweet looking bikes.

To clear up a point about Kinesis.

Kinesis are a Taiwanese frame builder who build loads of frames under contract for many different brands.

Kinesis UK is Upgrade Cycles own brand designed in the UK (previously by Dom) and built by Kinesis

We all know what “alloy” means, and the next complaint will be that it’s spelled with the wrong number of Is.

Just because it is common, that does not mean complaining about semantics is a productive use of the Internet. Think of all the bikes you could build with that wasted carbon. /s

Yes and no. Dom Mason worked for Kinesis UK, who designs all of their own bikes. These are then manufactured by the mother company Kinesis in Taiwan, who also manufactures bikes both on behalf of other brands and under their own name.

Anxiously awaiting more details and more photos, especially of the blue steel frame.

Nothing is clear in a world for example where car production is globalized (a NASCAR Toyota “stock” model is more USA manufactured than the rest of the field) and so is bike production (just as convoluted). Three cheers for this brand – it appears to bring the best out of the Euro-Italian-Kinesis-production model.
