2016 Haro Shift full suspension mountain bikes

After a few year hiatus from performance oriented full suspension mountain bikes, Haro is back with a three-model collection called Shift.

There are two frame models, a single pivot and a four bar linkage, all using 27.5 wheels and the same front triangle for the most part, with only the pivot placements being different. The same tubing is used on all of the rear triangles, too, with the single pivot getting struts added to the front. And it’s all 6061 T6 alloy. The four bar linkage model will come in two versions, one with normal wheels and one spread wider for 27.5+ tires.

Shift S3 single pivot gets an air-sprung Suntour Raidon fork and shock to save weight, which is a nice touch for the price point. Travel is 120mm front and rear.

(NOTE: The pics here are very early samples, so spec shown is not what’ll come on production bikes. They’re heavy on Ritchey cockpit parts with some Rockshox and FSA thrown in there, too.)

The Shift R5 and R7 is the four bar model, which is sitting behind the single pivot on the top photo and shown immediately above in the Plus version. The difference between R5 and R7 is spec, with the R5 getting a Rockshox Monarch R and Recon Silver, Deore/SLX mix and the R7 getting a Monarck RL and Recon Gold, Deore/XT mix. Retail prices for the Shift S3, R5 and R7 range from just $1,200 to $2,000.

The R5 and R7 both have 125mm rear wheel travel mated to a 120mm travel fork.

The Shift Plus blows things out with the best spec of the bunch. For about $2,500, you’ll get the new XT 1×11 group, Boost 148/110 spacing, Monarch RT and Reba RL and WTB Scraper rims and Bridger 27.5 x 3.0 tires. Because of the larger tires, the stays are a bit longer, which increases effective rear wheel travel to 135mm, but fork is kept at 120mm.

All have a late November availability. Not shown is a new Subvert 27.5+ hardtail that’s coming at the same time.


The 2016 Flightline Carbon (FLC) hardtail adds a 27.5 wheel size option to go with the top of the line 29er race bike.


Adds thru axle to rear for both 29er and 27.5 and switches to a direct mount front derailleur with routing for sideswing, too.


The 27.5 will ship with just two price levels around $2,000 (Comp – RS Recon Gold, Deore Sideswing/SLX) and $3,800 (Pro – RS Reba RL, SRAM X01).



  1. Looks just like the last shift full suspension bike they had. It was junk then and still is. Hard to buy from a company that does not stand behind their product.
