watteam powerbeat powermeter add on for any crankset

Well, technically they’re $499 when they start shipping this summer, a timeframe we’ve been assured they’re on track to hit. In the meantime, they keep tweaking it and making it better.

Recently, they switched from AAA batteries to a fully enclosed rechargeable battery that made the unit more waterproof. Now, they’ve made the transmitter unit smaller and sleeker, and they’ve switched the the strain gauge mounting position to the bottom of the cranks, which reduces the length of cable needed to attach them to the transmitter.

Does it make the Q-factor wider? What about cranks with inset pedal thread shoulders?
