Volata, a quarterly magazine and Spanish-language web portal based in Barcelona, has only been putting out a print edition for just over a year and a half. But since their second issue, they have been working with local Spanish artists to create unique illustrations to highlight key stories from the magazine. It started with an homage to cycling legend Francesco Moser and an interview with the Italian, and is continuing to grow. Both to recognize the individual artists, and to make their work more accessible, Volata has started to produce limited edition posters of the original covers.  For now it is just the art that covered issues 2-5, but with a more issues on the way there should be a fairly regular supply of interesting new art as well…

Each of the poster’s is available from Volata‘s webshop, with limited edition prints costing 30€ + shipping. With shipping costs ranging from up to 9€ in Europe to 15€ in the US. The offset prints measure 40 x 50cm ( x “) and are printed on 200g stock.

From the cover of issue #2, artist Riki Blanco plays homage to Francesco Moser’s 1984 hour record, and with the design won the 2015 Award of Excellence by Communication Arts. For issue #5 that focused on the South American country, its races, riders, and culture, Pep Boatella illustrated some cyclists training on a typical Colombian winding climb.

I noticed these elsewhere online as well and again they caught my eye. Very nice design and art. I dig this.
