SOC16: Haro grows a 140mm travel mountain bike, cleans up Shift frames & more

At last year’s Sea Otter, Haro brought full suspension bikes back into their lineup after a several year rest period. The Shift came in two 120mm versions, a single-pivot and a four-bar linkage design to suit every budget. Now, they’re growing the travel of that design for a new model and refining the frames. Oh, and there’s a e-bike coming, too.

The Haro R9LT is the new all-mountain 140mm bike. It gets a different rear shock mount and spring curve, but sticks with the four-bar linkage design. Close ups below…

It uses heavily shaped tubes (check the headtube junction!) and uses all internal cable/hose routing.

Compared to the Shift (shown below), the R9LT places the shock’s upper mount on the downtube rather than the top tube. It’s coming in September, pricing and trim levels TBD.

The 2017 Shift models also get internal routing on both the regular and “plus” models. All of them are running 27.5″ wheels, including the new R9LT. They’re also adding an entry level 4-bar with same spec as the single pivot base model, giving anyone with a limited bank account more options.

Their show bike was set up with the new XT Di2, but that build level won’t be in the catalog.

The Subvert is a new 27.5 Plus E-MTB that’s in development. This one’s not the final design, they’ll be switching to the new Shimano STePS MTB e-bike drivetrain system because it’s smaller and angled up more for better BB/tire and ground clearance. It’ll also have a smaller battery. Pricing, delivery and other details are all TBD.
