SE Bikes Public Enemy Big Ripper, side

Yeah Boyeeeee! If you’re a hip-hop loving BMXer, SE Bikes has created one dope ride to pay tribute to rap’s most influential group as you cruise around your hood. With politically charged songs like ‘Fight The Power’ Public Enemy became an angry but intelligent voice for black culture in America during the late 80’s and early 90’s. As a testament to their immeasurable impact the group has been constantly sampled, referenced or paid homage in hip hop music ever since.

Dropping this summer, the Public Enemy Big Ripper lets you show your appreciation for the group and kick it old school with SE’s classic floval tubing and Landing Gear forks, plus a special edition three piece padset adorned with Public Enemy logos and song titles. Break it down for the deets, yo…

The bike uses the same frame as the existing Big Ripper, which gets its name from its huge (for BMX) 29” wheels. If you’re familiar with SE’s bikes, you’ll recognize their trademark floval tubing and looptail rear triangle on the 6061 aluminum frame. The Big Ripper is outfitted with SE’s Landing Gear forks, three-piece cranks and a cantilever rear brake.

The special edition collaborative model is decked out with Public Enemy graphics, a custom seat embroidered with the band’s target logo, a Public Enemy number plate, and a full pad set that displays the group’s logos and greatest hits. The special edition Big Ripper’s mostly black color scheme features red accents on the crank arms, seat clamp, seat rails, brake cable, headset cups and within the graphics on the frame and pad set.

Since a true collector’s item always has to include something exclusive, each buyer will also get a sheet of custom Public Enemy/ SE Bikes stickers (as seen above) with their bike. The Public Enemy Big Ripper will be available in July through SE Bikes dealers. MSRP is $749 USD.

This is the weirdest mix of nostalgia marketing. Two birds with one stone. I’ll take the De La Soul long board.

Does it come with a clock? I too would take the De La Soul longboard, or maybe the Tribe Called Quest scooter.
