Holiday season is upon us, and you should be riding your bike to lots of festive get togethers, right? It’s always appreciated when you show up to the party with a bottle of booze to share, so Thingumy offers an easy, affordable & adjustable way to hang a wide range of things (not just alcohol) from your toptube securely.

Thingumy is a cleverly simple idea – a stretchy recycled inner tube rubber loop attached to a long velcro strap. You buy the thingumy in pairs to carry bigger, long objects like the bottle. But on their own individually you can use one thingumy strap to secure a packable jacket, spare tube, lock, or pretty much anything else you can imagine to your bike as well.
If you are looking for the catch, it’s just that thingumy is on a Kickstarter that just ended. But, it has already reached its funding goal, and they are in production as we speak. We talked with their designer Yannick Read in London, and he is still accepting orders beyond the Kickstarter campaign.
A pair of thingumy straps cost £6 or two pairs for £11, with the ideal payment in the short term via PayPal. Now that crowdfunding is over, that price includes free shipping in Europe. Shipment to the US will cost you a few quid more to cover Yannick’s actual shipping costs. He does still expect orders made this week to go out before the end of the year. Whether that arrives before Christmas probably depends on how quickly you order, how close to London you are, or whether you want to fork out for expedited shipping.
