It’s been a while since we last checked in with Detroit Cargo; the makers of leather goods. Luckily, we were able to catch up with the man behind the brand at the Philly Bike Expo to see a selection of what’s currently available.

The Woodward Tool Bag – seen above – maintain its classic look and is backed by a 10 year warranty. It’s made of Latigo leather and graded from 6-7oz thicknesses. Also, it straps to a saddle with 3/4″ straps. The $100 bag comes in 10 colors and with brass or nickel fittings.

Detroit Cargo also has a line of fender straps and hub polishers. The fender straps ($15) come in 3 colors with stainless steel hardware. The hub shiners ($15) have nickel polished steel snaps, 3 color options, and – like all of their leather products – are made with Latigo leather.

Their leather card holder wallets hold about 10 credit/loyalty/I.D cards. Each is complete with a snap belt that keeps the contents from falling out. If you order online you can customize the design with a monogram. The $30 wallet comes in 6 colors and 2 design options, skull or bike. You can also have your logo applied for an additional fee.

As reported on in the past, they also upcycle fire hoses from the early 1960’s in their Fire Hose Wallet. The $25 wallet fits 9 cards or 30 business cards in the single hose and more in the double option. Each is finished with a leather base that’s laser etched with Detroit Cargo. These pieces are so unique that some hoses have the original manufacturer numbering on them.

  1. What is with all the hipster stuff from Detroit? Funny to look at – not would I spend a cent on one. Same with the cars…..SMH….

  2. so do they have a 10 year warranty? I see that is scratched out on their packaging. do they not expect to be around in 10 years? i mean i don’t think they will, but i would hope they think so.

Also, the price is too common-man, i mean, hipsters are their market and they dont even have to forego their daily avocado toast or $15 frape-blah-blah to afford one of these. I mean if hipsters dont have to take out additional student loans to pay for these luxuries i dont think they will want them. Cause everyone can afford them. No “bespoke” enough.

What do you think?
