Wolf Tooth nickel-plated Pack Pliers master link multi-tool
The original black anodized Master Link Combo Pliers that Wolf Tooth Components launched last January were already pretty nice looking, precision machined and with color ano-ed pivots. Now nickel plating gives the more simply renamed Pack Pliers a finish that claims to be more corrosion-resistant, more durable overall, and easier to clean up after fussing with your grimy chain.
With the new look all of the same original functionality remains. Use the Pack Pliers to open & close 9-12 speed master links, store two complete quick links with their built-in magnetic holder, remove valve cores with the slot in the end of the pliers, clamp the inner jaws to tighter tubeless valve nuts, or use the end tire lever to muscle stubborn rubber on an off (alloy rims only please.)
The shiny duplex nickel-plated pair of multi-tool Pack Pliers are still US-machined out of 7075-T6 aluminum, and still weighs 38g. The shiny finish does add five bucks to the tool, but that still keeps them at a fairly reasonable $38 price point. You can even get them with black or red pivots if you want a touch of color.
