Juiced CrossCurrent S2 e-bike upgrades to 52v battery & 33mph racing mode!

Juiced Bikes announced an update to the best-selling CrossCurrent S2, with a new 52-volt battery. Said to offer ‘a faster, farther, and more efficient ride’, the S2 reaches 28mph class-3 speeds, using a 750 watt motor that can carry you up to 100 miles… and even a racing mode that brings you to a blinding 33mph.

It seems that e-bike batteries are trending upward in voltage, and Juiced Bikes is ready with the updated CrossCurrent S2. With a new 52v, 13.0 Ah battery, it’s said to deliver a ton of juice through the 750 watt Bafang hub motor. Complete bike weight comes in at a quoted 59 lbs including the stock 13 Ah battery.

As a Class 3 e-bike, it assists up to 28mph, with a bonus ‘racing mode’ taking you to 33mph (though we don’t have word yet on the legal implications of this). Juiced calls it a 750 watt motor, with peak output of 1,300 watts available.

The stock 13Ah battery has a charge time of 5-7 hours, and is claimed to provide 75+ miles of range. The chart above details extensive information for all Juiced Bikes battery options.

A Shimano 1×9 transmission keeps things rolling, while Tektro hydraulic brakes bring you to a stop. An LCD display on the handlebar displays battery life. Other basic specs follow below:

Three sizes of the CrossCurrent S2 are offered – Medium (16.5″), Large (18″), and XL (20″).

The CrossCurrent S2 is available now for an MSRP of $1,799. It includes a 1-year warranty for the frame, mechanical components, and electrical components.

Surprised at the low price. That said, 33mph is mighty quick and a fair number of these riders won’t have the handling skills to manage it.

We just all need to figure out a way to get people riding these things to stop taking Strava KOM’s.

The thumb throttle will be a legal problem for this in the US. The federal definition of an electric bicycle states that the bike cannot exceed 20mph solely under it’s own power. That last part of the sentence is how 28mph pedal assist bikes exist legally in the market- they cannot move solely under their own power (you must pedal). With a throttle, this is a moped or motorcycle in the eyes of most written laws.

Its bikes like these that adds fuel to the fire that an E-bike=motorcycle. At least the big guy’s bikes (specialized, giant, etc) play by the rules on e-bike assist. This is just a crappy motorcycle.

So True. As a legal ebike commuter, I would love more speed. But there are too many idiots out there now on cheap stuff running into problems and giving the rest of us a bad name. Upping the speed and power for those who cannot afford a properly prepared bike ie. one that had decent components to at least give you half a chance at good control, is just helping cull the herd.

Dont listen to these (deleted) the police are not going to bother with those stupid laws they will just wave to you. Build it as fast as you can there great fun. I regularly drive 35 + mph on a 1000 watt rear hub I built cops love it!

As an avid biker, and experienced motorcyclist, I appreciate comments about this gray area of high speed bikes. Having taken falls on both, I never again want to do a header off of a bicycle, let alone at 33 m.p.h.

Is there a way to connect a multimedia system, so this electric motorcycle, can produce a combustion engine/exaust sound?
And option for 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine sound, please.
I always missed the 2 stroke sound, maybe this is a possible comeback…

Class 3 means the throttle stops working at 20 mph. You cannot go 28 mph under throttle on any juiced bikes. I have a CCX and can confirm this. Additionally the only way to go 20+ mph is to pedal.

Cheap hub driven online crap that can also double as an even more terrible motorcycle no thanks! The inefficiency and surging you get from these old hub drives are just not all that great.

Give me a reliable mid-drive motor from someone like Bosch, Brose or Shimano, good known quantities typically in bikes of some quality or at least with support from the e-bike component manufacturer. I don’t need 33mph, 28 is plenty especially with a powerful motor and higher capacity battery.

Give me something like the new Riese and Muller Supercharger2 with Rohloff or a Specialized Vado 5.0 but maybe with wider 650b tires and a carbon fork and I am happy!
