Henty have finally made available their new and improved Henty Enduro 2.0 hydration pack for MTB, now in 3 new bold-as-brass colorways. In this gear roundup, we take a closer look at its new features, in addition to the new cycle commuter pack offering from Osprey, and some rather tasty-looking vintage style moto goggles from 100%.

Osprey Metron & Radial Commuter Packs

The $160 Osprey Metron is available in Red and Black colorways

The Osprey Metron series is designed for urban bike commuters. Osprey have prioritised cycling comfort in the design of the Metron, which has subtle technical features specifically for the cyclist such as the hidden LidLock helmet carry feature for the dismounted segment of your commute. Empty, the 500D Nylon Packcloth pack weighs 1.18kg with dimensions 48 (l) x 35 (w) x 26 (d). Features such as the hi-vis waterproof rain cover and padded main compartment should make the Metron ideal for carrying your precious laptop and other electronic items, and you’ll be more visible to traffic. The StraightJacket compression allows you to reduce the pack’s volume down from its 26L to secure smaller loads. Like any good cycle commuting pack, the $160 Osprey Metron features both a chest and waist strap to stabilise the load while pedalling.

The $180 Osprey Radial cycle commuter pack is available in red and black colorways

Also made for commuting by bike is the Osprey Radial Pack. Slightly more expensive than the Metron at $180, the Radial is a fair amount larger; 26L at its smallest but expandable to 34L via a zippered compartment. Empty, it weighs in at 1.5kg with the dimensions 52 (l) x 35 (w) x 30 (d). Composed of 210D Nylon Dobby, the Radial features the same LidLock helmet carry and hi-vis waterproof cover as the Metron, but additionally features an integrated kickstand, allowing the pack to stay upright when you set it down, instead of collapsing and letting the contents fall out. A dedicated pocket inside the pack allows you to separate gym/cycling kit from the rest of the more precious contents you might be carrying, like a laptop or documents. Both the Metron and Radial commuter packs have an AirSpeed back panel to encourage airflow and prevent you getting too hot and sweaty.

100% Barstow Goggles

Ride 100% have once again partnered with selected artists to add a splash of creativity to their 2020 Barstow Collection. This year, in addition to artists Deus Customs and Roland Sands Designs, 100% bring you a colorway designed by skate icon and moto enthusiast, Steve Caballero. 100% describe these designs as ‘timeless’, and i guess they do have a bit of a vintage look about them with the strap trim at the sides.

For the $95 price tag, you get a minimalist frame design to maximise visibility, an anti-fog lens, triple layer face foam and upper vents to manage moisture and airflow. Also in the box is a spare clear lens and a microfibre bag for keeping the lens clean.

Henty Enduro MTB Hydration Pack 2.0

henty cycling pack enduro hydration mtbThis is Henty’s second shot at making a hydration pack for enduro riding. Based on rider feedback, Henty have increased the water reservoir size to 3.0L, and adapted the shoulder straps to include a 10cm untuckable strap in order to accommodate taller riders. Attached to the reservoir is a 48-inch hydraflex drinking tube with blaster valve. The Henty Enduro 2.0 is plastered in lots of small pockets for carrying all your trailside essentials, such as snacks, multitool, tyre levers, tubeless plugs, phone, wallet, keys, (enduro)banana, etc.

As many riders don’t like the added pressure that a standard hip pack places around the waist or on the navel area, Henty have tried to create something with the comfort of a backpack but the practicality of a hip pack. I’ve always thought that the most useful thing about a hip pack is that you can swing it around to access its contents without taking it off but hey, i’ll let you guys be the judge. Empty, the Cordura 500D Nylon pack weighs just 550g. For 2020 the Henty Enduro 2.0 is available in 3 new colorways; added to the original black and camo colorways are Orange, Green and Blue. Get one direct from Henty for $149.

Love my Henty 1.0, only thing that would make it better would be fit for a longer torso which 2.0 addresses. Nice.
