It was just a few months ago that Marin announced some important changes to the Rift Zone. To keep their MultiTrac equipped 29″ trail bike fresh, the frames gained more travel and updated suspension. Now, those aluminum frames are gaining some carbon siblings with the new Rift Zone C1 and C2.

From the looks of it, the major difference in frames comes from the material choice with the obvious inclusion of a carbon front triangle. That high modulus carbon front triangle is mated to an Enhanced Series 4 aluminum rear swingarm with oversized bearings and a locking collet main pivot. Like the aluminum bikes, the C1 & C2 see 125mm of rear travel from the MultiTrac suspension system matched with 130mm forks up front with 44mm offers. The frames are said to offer dropper post optimization to allow rider to run longer dropper posts which is always welcome.

That includes a 65.5º head tube angle, 76º seat tube angle, 425mm chain stays, and longer reach numbers.

Frame details include a threaded bottom bracket with ISCG 05 tabs, internal cable routing, a rubber downtube protector, and room for a bottle cage even when running a piggy back reservoir shock.

The Rift Zone carbon will be available in two models, with the C2 being the higher end version of the two. This bike gets a complete Fox suspension package with a Float Performance 34 fork and a Float Performance DPX2 rear shock with EVOL spring. A 1×12 Shimano SLX/XT drivetrain and SLX disc brakes highlight the build which is priced at $4,399.

The Rift Zone C1 uses the same frame, but a more affordable build including a Marzocchi Bomber Z2 fork and a Fox Float Performance DPS rear shock with EVOL spring. Even at the lower price point you’re still getting a Shimano SLX 1×12 group, but the brakes are Shimano MT410/420s instead of SLX. But the changes in spec get the price down to an impressive $3,499.

Both bikes should be available by the end of November.
