Trickstuff produces premium lightweight & powerful disc brakes, machined to a shine in Germany. And while their graphics were never really flashy, this is their true stealthy finish option.

Interestingly, the idea for a matte finish was a long-running idea at Trickstuff, but Stealth brakes never really made sense to offer before. You see, the way that they precision CNC-machine all of their components leaves an incredibly smooth surface finish, that just shines when anodized in their standard silver, black, or gold without extra finishing steps. To get a matte look, they would have to go back and etch the surface without any technical benefit. And that didn’t mesh with Trickstuff’s performance mindset.
But now they found an excuse to do it, and it means that you end up getting the Stealth Black Special Edition brakes for less money in the end.
The reason is because since they are such sticklers for perfection, if any brake element ends up with any cosmetic imperfection in the finish, Trickstuff won’t sell it to consumers. Instead of tossing those technically perfect components into the alloy recycling bin after a half an hour of CNC-machining, Trickstuff realized that by media blasting the finish off and then re-anodizing, they end up with a matte finish.
So these twice anodized parts get a unique Stealth look, and are spared from the recycling bin at the same time.
Now, there aren’t very many parts that get rejected on finish, and Trickstuff says they will only make these limited edition brakesets when enough individual components pile up to justify the extra Stealth finishing steps. What that means is that they are really limited. In the first few days after launching Stealth, the first run of Direttissimas has already sold out and just a few Piccola sets remain. But it is an ongoing project, so even though you can’t pre-order the Stealth brakes, keep an eye out and a second batch will come out in due time.
Trickstuff Stealth brakes – Pricing & availability
The Stealth option is available in Trickstuff’s two most popular brakes – the gravity 4-piston Direttissima & lightweight 2-piston Piccola with the alloy lever blade. Stealth brakes are sold in matching pair sets font & rear for 850€. Surely that isn’t cheap, but for a special limited edition brake with a unique matte look that required an extra step of finishing, it’s a pleasant surprise that they are actually 50€ less than a standard shiny set.
The brakes are only available direct from Trickstuff’s web store, and are sold first come first served. Interestingly enough, this could be the quickest way to get a set of Trickstuff brakes, as their customizable standard brake builds have a current lead time of around nine months.
So, act fast if you need some matte German stoppers in your life. Piccola HD & Maxima brakes are not being offered in the Stealth edition, and aren’t expected any time in the near/foreseeable future.
