Heading into 2020, REEB has put a lot of effort into revamping their entire lineup. That includes their staff as the company has added industry veteran Butch Boucher who was a co-founder at Co-Motion Cycles and spent more than 21 years at Moots. Not to mention the experience and input of MTB Hall of Famer, Jeff Lenosky who has helped to rework the REEB mountain bikes starting back in 2019. Combined with their engineer Steve Ziegler, and the fabrication team of Adam Prosise and Sam Robinson, you can expect to see revisions to all of their 2020 models.

On top of those smaller changes, REEB just announced the completely new Lickskillet which joins their existing The Sam’s Pants model in the gravel/bikepacking/dirt drop category. Where The Sam’s Pant’s is more of a do-everything, monster cross beast with 29 x 2.2″ tire clearance, the Lickskillet is more in line with current gravel trends to create a fast and capable bike.

Made in the U.S. from either steel or butted Dedacciai titanium, the Lickskillet offers clearance for up to a 700c x 45mm tire. The frames include a 44mm head tube that’s tapered steerer compatible (designed for 395mm axle to crown fork), a 68mm threaded bottom bracket, 142x12mm rear spacing, flat mount brakes, a 27.2mm seat post, and the option for 1x or 2x drivetrains. Meant to be more of a race or fast gravel/dirt bike, the frame doesn’t have a ton of braze ons – just three bottle cage mounts with two inside the front triangle and one below the down tube.

Sold in six stock sizes and three stock colors, custom sizing is available and starts at $350. Like most REEB bikes there are quite a few other custom options including custom powder coat colors ($250), internal stealth dropper routing ($100), internal brake and Di2 routing (starts at $300), slider dropouts ($200, belt drive compatibility ($150), and S&S couplers ($650-850).

For the frame only, steel frames start at $2,299 while titanium jumps up to $3,200. Complete builds will start at $4699 for the GRX Comp Build and top out at $8,499 for the Force eTap AXS titanium bike.

The Sam’s Pants 2020

On the other side of the gravel spectrum, The Sam’s Pants is getting an upgrade this year. The bike will still have clearance for the massive 29 x 2.2″ tires, but thanks to modern forks that have a 415mm axle to crown measurement with the same clearance, the frame has been reworked. The new frame allows for better standover clearance along with room for a large frame bag.

Also available in steel or double butted titanium, the frame accommodates the larger tires with a 73mm threaded bottom bracket and 142 x 12mm rear spacing. The 31.6mm seat tube is better suited for dropper posts which are available as an option for $100 to get the stealth routing.

Offered in five stock sizes and three stock colors, The Sam’s Pants has almost all of the custom options as the Lickskillet. Both are available now.
