2020 might very well be remembered as the year of Zwift. The virtual riding world certainly had its fans before Covid-19, but the ability to still ride with your mates without going outside has been a true lifeline to those forced to shelter in place. Once you’ve been riding Zwift long enough, you start to look into customizing your bike. Different frames, new wheels, and now, oversized derailleur pulley wheels?

That’s right. CeramicSpeed’s Oversize Pulley Wheel (OSPW) system has gone virtual. For the month of May, joining the CeramicSpeed Mission will allow you to add their OSPW system to your bike in the game, and “unlock extra watts on every ride.” How many watts will it actually save you? Like most of Zwift’s upgraded components, the in-game benefits are kept relatively vague.

What is known is that to finish the CeramicSpeed Mission, you’ll need to ride on three different types of bikes. That includes 25 miles on a mountain bike, 50 miles on a time trial bike, and 75 miles on a road bike. Note that the virtual OSPW will not work on the Concept Z1 bike or single speed frames, so choose something else in order to be eligible. After completing the distance on each bike, you’ll need to swap frames and then work on the next distance.

Complete this by the end of May, and all finishers will unlock an in-game CeramicSpeed kit. You’ll also be entered to win an OSPW system in real life which will be awarded to one male and one female rider. Even if you don’t win, CeramicSpeed will be making a limited run of 100 orange OSPW kits which will be available soon.

  1. Zwift is close to reality in that regard , Ceramic Speeds real life upgrade benefits are also “relatively vague”.
