Remember those mystery mounts on the newest Pivot Switchblade? After promising us a new accessory with an unnamed accessory company, Pivot is finally ready to introduce their take on integrated tool storage. Thanks to a collaboration with Topeak, the Pivot Phoenix Dock Tool System provides quick access to your tools – but not just on a Pivot.

While the Phoenix Dock was designed to work with the additional accessory mount under the top tube of the new Pivot Swtichblade, the system will fit anything with standard water bottle bosses. The two bolt standard is the same width as regular twin water bottle bosses, so you could easily mount one to most bikes.

When Pivot set out to create the Dock System, they didn’t want a completely hidden tool storage that made them hard to access. “We love the idea of on-bike tool storage. However, many hidden tools take longer to access then actually completing the repair. We wanted to design a system that makes accessing the tools faster than reaching into your pack,” says Pivot Cycles President and CEO, Chris Cocalis. “Now you can also have the cleanest setup and be the quickest to get back to riding or offer assistance to other riders in need.”

That speed is ensured thanks to the quick latch system of the weatherproof hardshell polymer tool case that is bolted to the frame. Presumably, the fact that they call it weatherproof means that the tool won’t get all rusty and crusty as it rides along on your bike.

On the T16+, the 2.5/4mm L-wrench stashed in the side of the tool can be inserted into the hollow 8mm Allen wrench to provide extra leverage.

That same L-wrench then doubles as the chain tool handle.

Is the tool long enough to get to every thing on the bike including the derailleur screws?
Does the tool rust? Or does the box/container protect and stop rust?
What do you think of the functionality of the tool now?
