Every year at this time, it’s always the same story. Is it really time to be talking about winter gear? Sadly, yes, it’s time. Especially this year since current affairs may have you cooped up more than usual, so having the right gear to keep you comfortable and allow you to get out of the house may be critical to maintaining your sanity.

To that end, Sealskinz has an all new technology for their waterproof gloves that claims to keep you dry and warm – while in full control.

Fusion Control waterproof glove

Waterproof winter cycling gloves are always a challenge. You want something thin enough to still provide the needed dexterity to control your bike, but you also want to stay warm and dry.

Their new Fusion Control technology uses a three layer bonded construction with a merio wool liner and outer shell bonded directly to the hydrophilic membrane. The bonding process is said to be unique and uses an ‘open mesh’ process that is said to improve moisture transfer away from your hands. The result is a waterproof and windproof glove with high breathability, and a liner that cannot be separated from the rest of the glove. Anyone who’s ever struggled with getting a winter glove back onto your hand after the liner has bunched up in the fingers knows this is a good thing.

Initially, Fusion Control will be offered in five different models in both ‘all weather’ and ‘cold weather’ options.

• Palm – PU Suede
• Middle Layer – 100% Hydrophilic Membrane
• Inner Layer – COOLMAX®

• PU Suede palm
• Merino wool interior
• Silicone grippers on the index and middle fingers

Woah, they returned to putting clasps on the gloves! About time.

“…outer shell bonded directly to the hydrophilic membrane”

^ Surely that ought to read “hydrophobic membrane,” unless that would mean the membrane had rabies.
