Two years ago Mason Cycles debuted their steel ISO monster bikepacking bike. In Search Of adventure, that bike also debuted a unique carbon fork with a load-bearing Shutter front fender attached to a proprietary fork crown mount. Almost immediately there was a call to add more gear hauling capacity, and Mason let slip that they had a direct-mount mini front rack in the works as well. Now that Condenser rack is here, and you’ll have to get your own ISO to bolt it up.

The Mason ISO is already a capable adventure bike, even without its mini load-carrying  Shutter front moto fender. But now the Condenser front rack we were teased, is ready to boost your bikepacking load hauling capacity up to 8kg, making it the perfect spot to strap down your bed roll and more for seriously stable off-road exploration.

The £100 Mason Condenser rack weighs 500g and is TIG-welded from tubular steel in The Netherlands, by company building racks for over 100 years. It features an upturned shape with scooped rails to cradle your gear, 2-mounting points for dynamo-powered lights, plus internal wiring for a clean setup. It also was designed to work with new Voilé Rack Straps to easily & securely strap down your load – from drybags to sleeping bag stuff sacks.

The Condenser is only available in a powder-coated black finish, and only compatible with the 3-bolt HotShoe mount on the fork that comes with the ISO. It comes with all mounting hardware, but straps are sold separately.

Design looks great but it does not fit on any bike except a few with a special fork, so it is pretty much dead on arrival. What is the point of a great product if nobody can use it ?

They designed it right from the start for the ISO, for those who already bought the bike, and those who are considering it in the future. It will help their sales in a competitive market. Nothing wrong with that.

Trek already did this front rack/fork with their 1120 a couple years ago…. Almost identical. Boom roasted

If i was a betting man, I bet these are two different rack “standards”

Yeah it’s different. The Trek rack is a 4 bolt system.

4 bolt, 3 bolt, one big bolt, etc… its been done. Trek doesn’t credit because they are a big company.

Two typos in the second sentence of the first paragraph and another in the first subheading. Think of what you’d be doing to all your English Composition teachers.

Custom builders can likely adapt to that standard pretty quickly . . .

Such a shame that there are hundreds of BB standards, but there isn’t an open standard for a rack mounting block to be fitted/welded to the head tube!

Brompton have their version in plastic, Ikea had metal one for their SLADDA, Rixen Kaul have their handlebar mounted Clickfix.
