The Evil Offering trail bike begins its second coming for 2021, sacrificing older geo and features in preparation for sinfully good times.
Starting with a new Super Boost rear end, the all-new Offering gets updated, if understated, geometry figures that turn devilishly aggressive with a flip-chip, aftermarket angle-adjust headset, and two different fork travel options.
Considering the first Offering satisfied our own trail demons, V2 may just push the boundaries of what we think a trail bike should be capable of…
2021 Evil Offering
The Evil Offering sees a complete overhaul for 2021. Like its shorter travel sibling The Following, and longer travel sibling The Wreckoning, the Offering v2 gets Super Boost+ 157mm spacing, improving tire clearance and adding extra stiffness to its already stiff UD carbon frame.
Evil updated the main pivot hardware to be wider and stronger to match. Now, all of their 29ers have a strong family resemblance, with the seat tube support beam getting the same inverted placement as those other two models, too.
The rear triangle goes through 140mm of travel delivered by Evil’s multiple linkage-driven Delta System single pivot suspension designed by Dave Weagle.
This puts the shock in a low slung position within the front triangle, with enough space to accommodate high end air and coil shocks with piggybacks, such as the Push Eleven Six.
Offering v2 Geometry
As we’ve seen across the Evil full suspension mountain bike range, the Offering v2 gets a Flip Chip offering trail side geometry adjustment. Positions are denoted as LOW and X-LOW, with the BB height dropping 8mm from 347mm to 339mm (with a 150mm travel fork).
Evil describe the LOW setting as “trail-happy” and “fast-handling”, while stating that the X-LOW position offers increased stability and confidence in steeper terrain and higher speeds. With the drop in BB height comes concomitant slackening of the head angle from 66.4° to 65.8°. A 46mm offset fork keeps trail figures long.
OK, so those angles aren’t super progressive. However, when you factor in Evil’s aftermarket 1.5° angle set, an additional four geometry positions become available, offering a total of 2.1° of head angle adjustment. The slackest configuration of The Offering v2 has a 63.8° head angle; that’s the 160mm fork option set in the X-LOW Flip Chip position with the aftermarket angle set.
Chainstay length is consistent across the S-XL frame size range. That measurement alters with a switch of the Flip Chip too, starting at 430mm in LOW, lengthening to 432mm in X-LOW.
Frame Details
The Offering v2 frame gets internal cable routing with guides running throughout the front and rear triangles for ease of servicing.
The downtube and driveside chainstay are protected with a combination of rubber and impact foam; the added dampening qualities reduce noise from chain slap.
