Sierra Buttes wants “A Trail for Everyone” – The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship has launched a short film about Connected Communities, their proposed “Lost Sierra Route” project, and the positive impact of linking 15 California mountain communities together with off-road trails.

The Lost Sierra is a place where many come to be found. To lose themselves in the region’s beauty in order to find something special within themselves. But for those of us that call it home, a more difficult task is at hand: how to survive. We can all benefit from the beauty this region has to offer, and share it with the world in a way that is sustainable for generations.

Sierra Buttes are thrilled to share their “A Trail For Everyone” film, shedding light on the difficult economic hardships inside the Lost Sierra and their own movement to try to support these communities. The SBTS hopes to use multi-use outdoor recreation to breathe life back into these communities in a sustainable way.

The film is a glimpse into their story of working with local small businesses, trail builders, families, and just the people of the communities, bring people together to rejuvenate their livelihoods as they work to bring the planned 300-mile multi-use Lost Sierra Route into reality. More Cycling Advocacy

  • US Lawmakers to reintroduce road user Safety & Accessibility Legislation -Senator Markey and Congressman Cohen are set to reintroduce legislation in the US Congress aiming to improve safety and accessibility for ALL users of the road. Between 2009-2018 pedestrian & bicyclist fatalities increased nearly 51%. In 2019, more than 6000 pedestrians & 800 bicyclists were killed in crashes with motor vehicles. So some of our US representatives are trying to make a difference with their reintroduction of the Complete Streets Act, legislation that would promote safer and more accessible transportation routes across the United States. The legislation would fund & improve more “complete streets” that benefit all users. Read it all in-depth here, then reach out to your representatives via SmartGrowthAmerica.org

  • Endura supports Trash Free Trails, end to Single Use goods – Endura pairs up with community-focused Trash Free Trails non-profit in a bid to both reduce Single Use Product Pollution in & on our trails by 75% over the next four years, and also to simply reconnect people with nature through adventure. Endura will first kit out the TFT team in custom gear, just like their pro athletes, and will support them financially in their clean-up goals. Endura is also working hard on their overall sustainability initiatives, having already planted 1.3 million trees and on track to be CO₂ negative by 2024. Industry News & Contest

  • Don’t forget about Shimano’s 100th anniversary – We all know that Shimano has something big coming this year to celebrate their centennial. Will it be all-new Dura-Ace? Will it be all-new XTR? How about wireless, 12 or 13 speeds? What we do know is that something is coming in 22 days. In the meantime, you can enter Shimano’s year of Photo Contests here, with a shot at winning some “centennial novelty” schwag. Just submit your “Lively Movement” snaps now. • Take a trip down memory lane with Campagnolo’s gravel origins – If you are more interested in Italian gruppos, maybe it’s time to dive into Campagnolo’s heritage on gravel roads as part of their #BornBeforeRoads campaign. While Campy built their brand on premium road racing performance, they’ve been doing it so long that all of that early racing was actually gravel road racing. Ekar is only their newest name for it. Grand Tours, the heritage Classics, so much of the history of road cycling was actually developed off-road, literally before there were smooth paved roads. Campagnolo.com

Man, I wish Sierra Trails all the luck in the world. I’m from the Finger lakes area of New York and we’ve lost a ton of jobs here too. People have fled my area in droves and it’s a real shame to see.
