Inventory shortages got you down? Now and then, we’ll be posting bikes, components, and other gear that’s come back into stock so you can upgrade your ride or grab some fresh gear while it lasts!
This week, it’s the Alchemy Arktos, Spot’s premium mountain bike builds, reconditioned Wahoo Trainers, and Detroit Bikes’ commuter.
Alchemy Arktos
We’ll start with the Alchemy Arktos, what could be one of the most versatile full suspension mountain bikes on the market. Something of a shapeshifter, in fact. Given the correct suspension link and extender, the Arktos frame can be run in any one of the following configurations:
- 29″ wheels, 130mm Front / 120mm Rear
- 29″ wheels, 150mm Front / 135mm Rear
- Mullet, 150mm Front / 135mm Rear
- 29″ wheels, 170mm Front / 150mm Rear
- Mullet, 170mm Front / 150mm Rear
That’s right. Each of those bikes run the exact same carbon front and rear triangles, just different links and extenders that can be purchased aftermarket for $80 and $40, respectively. You can purchase any of the above configurations direct from Alchemy Bikes, with pricing starting at $5,999.
On the 170mm/150mm 29er, that cash gets you a FOX 38 Factory fork with GRIP2 damper, an X2 Factory shock, SRAM GX eagle drivetrain with 52T top cog, SRAM Code R brakes and an Industry Nine 29 Enduro S Hydra wheelset. Not to be sniffed at!
The Alchemy Arktos is available in Sand/Burnt Orange, Gray/Light Gray, and Charcoal/Sunburst colorways, in frame sizes M-XL.
Spot Mayhem & Ryve Mountain Bikes
Other full suspension mountain bikes that are actually available to buy now are the Spot Mayhem 130 and 150 bikes, as well as the shorter travel Ryve 115 and 100 XC bikes. In fact, all of Spot’s 6-Star (build level) mountain bikes are available and ready to ship now. That includes the Rocker hardtail, too (single-speed or geared).
What components do you get on a 6-Star build from Spot Bikes? Across the range, you can choose builds with a Shimano XTR or SRAM XX1 AXS drivetrain; taking the Spot Mayhem 150 as an example, the 6-Star builds retail at $8,799 ans $8,999, respectively. Other notable components include ENVE M630 carbon wheels with Industry Nine Hydra hubs, a FOX Factory 36 fork with GRIP2 damper and a FOX Factory Float DPS EVOL shock.
Detroit Bikes Type A Commuter Bike
Stepping back onto the asphalt, steel bicycle manufacturers Detroit Bikes have also been working hard to deal with the international parts shortage. They’ve managed to secure sufficient components for a limited run of medium frame US Chromoly A-Types, suitable for rider heights of 5’3″ to 5’11”.
It is only available in Gloss Black and retails at $1,249. The money gets you a handmade-in-Detroit premium American chromoly steel commuter bike with a Shimano Alfine 8-Speed Internal Gear drivetrain and shifter, high-polish cold-forged aluminum crank arms, a Brooks Cambium C17 Bold saddle, genuine leather grips and Schwalbe Road Cruiser tires.
Wahoo KICKR Smart Trainers available now
It’s not exactly indoor training season in the Northern Hemisphere right now, with the longest day of the year basically happening right now. However, sure as eggs, winter will be upon us once more. You may not need a smart trainer right now, but in few months time when they’ve all sold out, you’ll be kicking yourself.
Or, you could pick up a reconditioned trainer from Wahoo now, including the Wahoo KICKR, KICKRcore and KICKRbike. They’re $120-$400 off normal retail price and include a warranty.
