Designed as a pure race bike, the Pinarello F-series has long topped their range of performance bikes. This latest iteration cleans up the lines and streamlines the tube junctions without losing the trademark curves and shapes that make it instantly identifiable as a Pinarello.

Available in multiple layups to suit different riders and surfaces (and budgets), the new F-Series comes in three versions and nine sizes to delivery something for everyone…

The front end keeps their internal cable routing, with builds hiding hoses and cables (yes, there are actually some mechanical builds!) inside the bar and stem, feeding directly into the frame.

The top tube remains flatter at the head tube junction for a sleeker, more modern look. And, the bulbous “nose” of the headtube is gone, replaced with a more subtle bump at the top of the hourglass-shaped tube.

The Flatback profile of their tubes remains, but now the wider face at the bottle cage mount stays wide all the way to the BB.

Tire clearance grows to 700×30, but thanks to a slimmer seat tube, they maintained the same 406-410mm chainstays (size dependent) and snappy handling. The added rubber gives the bike more capability on adverse road surfaces, but the Dogma-like geo maintains the bike’s climbing and descending prowess.

The seat tube wedge is now 3D-printed titanium and sits in front of the aero post, slimming down the tube behind it as well. This saves 36g over the prior version, and improves overall aerodynamics.

A custom battery mount for electronic drivetrains (Campagnolo EPS and Shimano Di2) slots in next to the BB. This not only let them run a slimmer, more aero seatpost, but also puts the weight lower on the bike for an improved center of gravity.

For years, Pinarello has made asymmetrically shaped frames, and this one is, too. Each side of the frame and fork are designed specifically to balance and counter the forces applied to it, whether from braking or pedaling. Even the headtube is a little wider on the right to make room for the cables to pass by the steerer. They say this makes the ride feel more balanced even if the bike looks off kilter.

The seatstays are now slimmer, with less of a kink in the middle. Altogether, the slimmer tube profiles add up to a 950g frame for F9 and F7 (size 53, raw unpainted) and 990g frame for F5.

The F9/F7 frames use a stiffer, lighter T900 carbon, and the F5 gets T700, which they say is a bit heavier but better at vibration damping.
