Versatile bike maker Bombtrack’s new Beyond+ MT is a pretty killer do-it-all bike, whether you are looking for a manageable mid-tail cargo workhorse or simply an adventure bike built to haul everything, including the kitchen sink. It’s a mix between Bombtrack’s backcountry bikepacking mountain bikes and a dedicated cargo commuter with a burly built-in rack. Plus, it gets a solid trail-ready build at a surprisingly affordable price. But, it is technically a limited edition, so snap one up quickly if you are looking to mix up your daily commutes with a little more taste of adventure!
Or if your commutes lean more towards longer distances with less hauling needs, Bombtrack also have a new aluminum Tempest AL all-road bike. This one was created to make it more affordable than ever to get a quick road-style ride on a bike that can still fit fat enough tires for all-day comfort over any road surface.
Bombtrack Beyond+ MT steel midtail cargo adventure bike
Bombtrack describes the new Beyond+ Midtail as a “tough, adventure-ready midtail cargo bike built for bikepacking and heavy hauling“.
They essentially started with their popular Beyond+ backcountry adventure mountain bike family, then extended the rear end of the steel bike to add on a heavy-duty built-in rear rack to haul anything you could imagine.
“For spending a year on the bike, exploring the most remote wilderness, and for getting back home and conquering the tasks of the daily grind”

What you get is a suspension-corrected, reinforced 4130 steel frame that can carry everything. In fact, you can haul up to 200kg/440lb, including the bike’s pilot. But Bombtrack built it with a complex double-butted tubeset with a quadruple-butted downtube to keep weight to a reasonable level and to give it a lively ride.

Plus, even with the extra-long 580mm chainstays to fit the 60cm/2ft long built-in rear rack, they still gave the Beyond+ Midtail playful trail-ready geometry so it’ll be fun to ride on- or off-road.
Of course, the highlight of the bike is that integrated rack…

It can carry likely a couple of small kids, two full pairs of rear panniers, or pretty much whatever you could think to strap or bolt down onto the back of a bike. And with more mounts than we could count – at least ten sets of 3-pack anything cage mounts, toptube bag mount, multiple styles of front rack mounts, full coverage fender mounts, a bunch of braze-on on the rear rack itself, and of course internal wiring routing for front & rear lighting – there’s literally tons of ways to mount all your stuff on this bike!

Bombtrack Tempest AL affordable alloy all-road bike
At the completely opposite end of the versatile bike-to-work spectrum is the new Bombtrack Tempest AL. The steel Tempest has long been in the Bombtrack catalog as an all-road-ready road bike. But this new double butted 6061-T6 aluminum version is 225g lighter compared to its chromoly sibling, dropping more than 10% off the frame weight.
This is a road bike for the rider not concerned with ultralightweight or incremental aerodynamic gains. But rather, a bike for cyclists who don’t want to be confined to smooth tarmac. With 35mm tire clearance, comfort-optimized alloy tubing design, tall headtubes for an upright riding position, and plenty of mounts where you need them, the Bombtrack Tempest AL would be a perfect bike to serve as your commuter, fast-packing bike, and long-distance endurance road bike – all in one.
Affordable alloy & all-road-ready

That weight savings helped Bombtrack be able to build an affordable road bike capable of riding pretty much any surface, while sticking with a solid, but entry-level build kit. And yet they still kept its total weight to just 10kg. That seems pretty light to us for a bike with Tiagra, 21mm internal aluminum wheels, and simple durable alloy components.
Besides the neatly designed butted alloy frame with a UDH, dropped seatstays for comfort, and all the right standards, there’s pretty much only one real fancy component to the build…

The Tempest AL features the new Seido Banjo fork, developed as the most feature-packed full carbon all-road fork. The 1.5″ tapered steerer fork features 700x35mm tire clearance, internal dynamo hub wire routing, semi or fully internal brake line routing, fender mounts, and mounts for all types of front racks – conventional, low-rider, or mini porteur racks. The 385mm axle-to-crown x 53mm offset fork has a claimed weight of 500g, including a full-length 300mm steerer.
The Banjo is expected to be available separately starting next year from Seido, most likely in the neighborhood of 400€.
