The Oversized Pulley Wheel system (OSPW X) has gained popularity over the years, promising improved drivetrain efficiency and lower friction. While the system has slowly adopted more compatibility with different groupsets, it had yet to be available for the new clutch-equipped Shimano Ultegra RX rear derailleur – until now. In addition, CeramicSpeed gave us a sneak peek at a prototype system for SRAM’s Eagle 1x mountain drivetrains.
CeramicSpeed OSPW X pulleys for Shimano Ultegra RX
The friction experts at CeramicSpeed have been busy making new options for their high-end Oversized Pulley Wheel derailleur mod, which promises to reduce drivetrain friction. A notable omission was the new clutch-equipped Ultegra RX800 (mechanical) and RX805 (electronic) derailleurs from Shimano. That ends now, with the new option becoming officially available.
The RX-compatible OSPW X has a 13 tooth upper pulley and 19 tooth lower pulley. It’s available with either black or red pulleys, starting at $519 USD. Add $100 for an additional low-friction coating.
SRAM Eagle OSPW X teaser
Details are very slim at this time, but CeramicSpeed showed us a prototype OSPW X system for SRAM’s Eagle rear derailleurs.
We don’t have pricing information, but we imagine that the MSRP will be inline with other CeramicSpeed OSPW systems – which is to say, in the $500+ range. We weren’t able to obtain any firm availability dates beyond “sometime this year”. Check out these and other CeramicSpeed products at the link below.
