TOUR of UTAH GAINS UCI PRO STATUS

Entering its seventh year in 2011, the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah cycling race has been elevated by the UCI to one of the top three professional stage races for road cycling in North America. Organizers will invite 15 domestic and international professional cycling teams and increase prize money from $45,000 to $150,000, as part of the UCI sanctioning rules. Dates are August 9-14, 2011, with a prologue and five stages for an estimated 400 miles of racing.

3rd ANNUAL PISGAH MOUNTAIN BIKE STAGE RACE REGISTRATION OPEN

Online registration for the Southeast’s triple crown of endurance mountain biking events is now officially open. Blue Ridge Adventures’ two longstanding one-day endurance races – the 63-mile Off Road Assault on Mount Mitchell (July 24) and the end-of-season Swank 65 (Nov 6th) – are on the list, but the main attraction this season is the third annual running of the Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race—a grueling five-day, 175-mile monster that showcases some of the best singletrack Pisgah has to offer (see photographic example, above). The race runs from September 27 – October 1, 2011.

2011 NEW AMSTERDAM BICYCLE SHOW

Conveniently scheduled the day before the Five Boros Bike Tour, his brand new event will host NYC’s massive community of bike and design enthusiasts, press and cycling influencers. It’s a lifestyle show that celebrates the art and the all the benefits of riding a bike in our lovely city. Biking is booming in NYC, and now we have an annual show to celebrate and introduce NYC’s rapidly growing bike community to the best bikes and products. DEALER CAMP and TRIATHLON AMERICA TEAM UP

If you’re a bicycle dealer and you’re headed to Lifeboat’s Dealer Camp this summer, you’ll find a new section catering to triathlon. From their press release: Lifeboat Events, promoters of DealerCamp, announces today a promotional partnership with Triathlon America–an industry organization dedicated to promoting the sport and the business of triathlon–to create a Triathlon America GearCamp at DealerCamp this July in Utah. Recognizing the value that the sport of triathlon brings to retailers, the expanded DealerCamp will now offer triathlon-specific meetings and select events, with more details to be announced soon.
