Fizik is back with a fresh new flagship road racing shoe: the Vega Carbon—a road shoe reimagined from the ground up to meet the needs of today’s high-performance cyclists. Think lower stack, better fit, power-on-demand stiffness, and enough modern woven wizardry to make a textile engineer blush.

This isn’t just a facelift. The Vega Carbon is a complete overhaul from top to bottom that dials in ergonomics, breathability, and—most importantly—pedal efficiency. Whether you’re sprinting for the line or grinding up a KOM, these kicks are engineered to keep you locked in and the pedals lit up.

All-New Shape

At the heart of the Vega Carbon is a brand-new anatomical silhouette. Fizik reshaped the entire last, straightening the shoe’s axis, reducing the heel-to-toe drop, and expanding the toe box. There is more room to splay the foot, less fatigue on long efforts, and a locked-in feel that doesn’t punish your pinky toe.

This new geometry aligns with how modern riders pedal, especially as cleat positions move rearward and bike fits get more aggressive. Fizik calls it “natural,” but it’s more like ‘purposeful evolution‘.

Carbon Sole, Hidden Power

The full-carbon outsole is now integrated directly into the shoe’s upper, not just glued on underneath. This reduces the cleat stack height. And it moves your foot closer to the spindle for better power transfer and a more planted pedaling feel.

Fizik describes the shoe as its stiffest (10/10) construction. Since the carbon plate is embedded beneath the upper, it cuts weight and stack height, while keeping the whole platform responsive and race-ready.

Materials That Breathe and Grip

Fizik brings their woven Aeroweave PRO fabric to the table here—an airy, high-tenacity weave combined with a thin translucent mesh for maximum air flow and minimal weight. It’s breezy where it counts and structured where it needs to hold shape. There are no soggy uppers or sloppy hotspots.

Inside, beneath the weave, a perforated Airprene bootie hugs your foot with a sock-like feel. It wraps without pinching, giving you snug security without creating pressure points when the watts go up.

Dialing in the fit is as easy as turning those two BOA Li2 dials. Independent zones let you fine-tune instep and midfoot tension separately because your arch and forefoot don’t always want the same hug.

Widest toebox, and at least outwardly the least toe spring of any Fizik road shoe ever. Cleats look like they’ve been moved even further back than some of the newer designs too.

Still no 49 or 50 though. Inexcusable for a company selling this many shoes.

These look one unexpected rainstorm away from disaster. Are they cleanable?

Thats the first thing I always think about these shoes from any brand. A buddy has the DMT Knit shoes in white and he manages to keep them white.

Should these be more wide than the other Fizik’s wide versions?

A direct response I got from Fizik says ” The Vega is only available in the regular version. According to our experts, their toebox is so rounded that offers more space in the toes area in comparison to the older Infinito. So, it could be that many cyclists find our new Vega as comfortable as the old Wide Infinito.”

Oh and I also got the vega in my size in the mailbox today. Its definitely not as wide in the metatarsal area, but the toebox up front is much roomier than the regular Infinito for instance. So it sort of depends on your foot anatomy. For regular feet’ed folk – it’ll feel very roomy. For wider foot owners – it’ll still feel ‘in between’. P.S. Shoe is annoying to get into 😀

I have just received a response from Fizik:

“The width of the VEGA shape in 42,5 is 87 mm (94mm the upper shoe), whereas the 43 is 88,6mm (95,2 the upper shoe). The R4 Wide is about 4mm larger.”

I will have to wait for a wide version, I have a 110 mm wide foot.

Currently using Lake 238 wide, size 43.
