Remot is new consumer-direct bike brand out of the Chattanooga ABG designers of Litespeed & Quintana Roo. After mastering ti & tri, they are broadening horizons to affordable carbon bikes, launching the full-suspension Cinder mountain bike, gravel Boundary, and all-road Baseline. Each bike is built on delivering high-performance & versatility at a price level that won’t break the bank.
UPDATE: This new ABG family of carbon bikes has been rebranded as Ocoee prior to their full consumer roll-out. For details check out our article here. But other than the name, all f the details remain the same under the new Ocoee naming…
now Ocoee… now Obed) consumer-direct carbon bikes for road & trail
Making their debut this weekend at Sea Otter, even though the Remōt brand is all-new, their expertise has been proven through the other American Bicycle Group bike brands. Blending experience honed on classic titanium Litespeed road & trail bikes, and carbon Quintana Roo triathlon bikes, the same design engineers sought to create a new adventure bike brand focusing on delivering value & versatility.
To do that Remot has a three bike line to suit a wide range of riding terrain, all available direct from ocoeebikes.com, and shipped right to your door: Cinder, Boundary, & Baseline.
now Ocoee… now Obed) Cinder carbon 120mm trail mountain bike
The Cinder is Remot’s new carbon Horst-link, four-bar full-suspension trail bike, offering 120mm of rear wheel travel paired to 130mm forks.
Developed as a do-it-all, modern geometry trail mountain bike, the Cinder gets a solid SRAM GX Eagle 1x 12-speed spec, with Guide RE brakes & a RaceFace Aeffect dropper post.
The Cinder is available in two guises – either with 29″ wheels , or as a 27.5+ bike with grippy 2.8″ tires. Both options sell for the same $3700 price (the most expensive bike in the new Remot line-up) and are available in three frame sizes & three frame colors – graphite gray, pine green & sand beige.
now Ocoee… now Obed) Boundary carbon gravel bike
The Boundary is Remot’s take on the adventure gravel bike, a durable carbon frame & fork with plenty of mounting points and the option to run 700c or 650b wheels. The carbon bike features bosses to let you run front & rear racks, two bottle cages inside the main triangle, one more below the downtube, a top tube mounted bag/bento box & anything cages on each fork, plus full coverage fenders & internal routing.
The gravel bike is built to fit up to 700x45mm tires, even wider when you opt for 27.5 wheels, up to 2.1″. All-day, all-terrain comfort is the goal with those big tires and endurance geometry, but the carbon frame promises a stiff & durable layup.
Three spec levels of the Boundary offer either a carbon gravel bike for every budget. Start off with a $2400 Shimano 105 build, $3000 with Ultegra mechanical, or go all-in for that top $3700 pricepoint with Ultegra Di2.
At each spec, the Boundary is available in five sizes (XS-XL) and the same three colors as the trail bike: graphite, pine & sand.
now Ocoee… now Obed) Baseline carbon all-bike
Lastly the Baseline is a carbon all-road endurance bike for cyclists who tend to wander off the main road. Tire clearance is generous on the flat mount disc brake bike, getting spec’ed 32mm slicks with plenty of room for full-coverage fenders too.
A close look and the Baseline appears to be the exact same frame as the Boundary, but a lighter hi-mod carbon layup without all of the extra mounting points. It does get a more narrow fork, that still offers 700x38mm tire clearance with fenders. That gives this this carbon all-road bike tons of multi-surface versatility, just in a lighter setup not destined for bikepacking adventure rides.
Geometry is then the same, with a relaxed endurance lean, and again available in five sizes & three paint jobs. The Baseline is also available three Shimano road compact builds – $2300 with 105, $2900 with Ultegra mechanical & $3600 with Ultegra Di2.
Ocoee Obed availability
All of the new Ocoee bikes are currently in early production, with official sales beginning May 1, 2019. Bikes will ship to your door, requiring only minimal setup to get rolling (think installing a front wheel, adjusting saddle height, and maybe tightening a handlebar into place.) All bikes come with a 30-day return policy that lets you try the bike and make sure it is right for you.
