Specialized just announced a new (semi) custom program for their legendary Stumpjumper mountain bike. Pick your wheel size (27.5″ or 29″), suspension kit, and limited edition paint job online – and it will be at your local dealer in three weeks or less. If you’re looking for something that looks unique and is also tuned for your local trails, your search might be over.
Specialized Stumpjumper Custom Program
Specialized made waves with big changes to the Stumpjumper frame for 2019. While the Stumpjumper name has been around for 37+ years, almost nothing about the latest bike carries over from the original. It’s still a mountain bike, but the materials, wheel sizes, drivetrain, suspension format, cable routing – the list could go on – have all changed.
The recent announcement of a custom program doesn’t change anything inherent with the frame, but allows you to pick your wheel size (27.5″ or 29″), paint job, and suspension spec. Unfortunately you can’t customize the build kit, but it comes with the popular 12-speed Eagle GX kit from SRAM. All builds feature Roval Traverse carbon wheels.
There are three color choices to choose from: Gloss Summer Blue/Tropical Teal, Satin Oak Green/White Mountains, and Gloss Carbon/Black. Suspension options include Fox, Rockshox, and Öhlins – with both air and coil available.
- FOX Factory FLOAT 36 Fork / FOX Factory FLOAT DPX2 Shock
- FOX Factory FLOAT 36 Fork / FOX Factory DHX2 Coil-Sprung Shock
- Öhlins RFX 36 Coil Fork / Öhlins TTX22 Coil-Sprung Shock
- RockShox Pike RC Fork / RockShox Deluxe RT3 Shock
If you want to get your hands on one, act fast – because Specialized says that once the frames are gone, they’re gone. You can submit an order online for delivery to your local dealer, or save your build and the dealer can order for you. Prices start at $5,200, and increase depending on options.
