GT brings back 26″ wheels for its first full suspension mountain bike for the Youth category; the GT Stomper FS. It comes in one size only, aimed at riders around 4’4” to 5’0” (132cm to 152cm), and may well also appeal to shorter adults who struggle to find a good fit with the XS offerings out there. This aluminum frame boasts 120mm of rear wheel travel, delivered via a scaled-down version of GT’s LTS suspension platform, paired with a 130mm fork. There is just one model, retailing at $1,500 USD ($2,000 CAD).
GT Stomper FS
What’s up with the new GT logo? Well, it’s not a brand-wide logo. Here, it signifies that the Stomper FS is part of the brand’s so-called capsule collection, celebrating 50 years of GT Bicycles. Looks neat, doesn’t it?
I digress. The new GT Stomper FS is available in Gloss June Bloom with Purple, or Gloss Gunmetal with Mustard Yellow. Just one model is announced today; it has the following key specs:
- SR Suntour 130mm XCR34 Air Fork
- SR Suntour Raidon R Shock
- 80mm TranzX Dropper Seat Post
- MicroSHIFT AdventX 10 Speed Drivetrain
The Stomper FS sees a thoroughly modern trail bike geometry; it pairs a 65° head angle with a low standover of 675mm. Reach is 335mm. Geometry is not adjustable.
Also noteworthy is the use of a SRAM UDH. Cables are routed internally through the front triangle, entering at the headtube and exiting at the underside of the downtube. From there, the gear cable and rear brake hose are guided externally along the chainstays. The drive-side chainstay lacks protection from chain slap. The front triangle gets two sets of bosses; one set on the downtube for a water bottle, and another on the underside of the top tube; here, you can secure a multi-tool, inner tube, and other trail side repair essentials.
The GT Stomper FS retails at $1,500 USD ($2,000 CAD). We await info on its availability in other markets.
