While claiming he’ll never give us his standard mountain bikes, Hans has also been doing a lot more e-bike advocacy recently, which all fits into this clip from Shimano.
Zach Overholt is the Editor in Chief of Bikerumor. He has been writing about what’s new in the bicycle world for 12+ years. Prior to that, Zach spent many years in the back of a bicycle shop building and repairing nearly every type of bike, while figuring out how to (occasionally) ride them.
Based in Ohio, Zach is now slowly introducing a new generation to cycling and still trying to figure out how to fit the most rides into a busy schedule as a new dad.
E-bikes are de-volution. Not evolution. They are mopeds, not bicycles.

You’ve obviously never tried an e-mtb! It’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face and get you cycling further and higher than you’ve been before. Plus you get a great workout as you still have to pedal.

Yeah, a little disappointed that this was just a stealthy, 6-minute e-bike commercial.

Hans is such a legend. So stoked he’s still loving riding and is a part of the global scene. Keep it up Hans!
Hans gets it! He’s not a purist and he’s happy to change with the times. IMHO, Most everyone on this webpage will own one one day. They are fun, combined with age and extenuating circumstance (that happens to us all) will lead the reasons why. We’ll see. I freaking love mine and am riding more than ever.
I think not mentioning the change in brakes was a big miss.

I’ll get an ebike when I’m old for sure. And I would definitely get one were I going back to doing a 40-mile round trip commute along the South Coast (England… Head wind) every day.
It wasn’t supposed to be video about the entire evolution of MTB’s (I’m sure it looks this way), we were going to address more like some of the trends I was involved with or embraced early.
