Heller Bikes was the subject of a surprise introduction this year at Interbike. Debuted with a single rigid fat bike, the brand falls under the roof of QBP who already had three other brands with unique fat bikes. However, Heller is going to be much more than fat bikes. It just happens that the brand is launching going into winter so the fat bike makes the most sense to launch first. Heller is really about affordable carbon bikes that will be available to any QBP stocking dealer. We’re told that up next will likely be at least one carbon trail mountain bike with more non-fat bikes on the way.

For now though, the Bloodhounds is the big news and is now available in both rigid and front suspended. Packed with quality components, the Bluto equipped Bloodhound is going to be a serious contender this winter…

Obviously, the biggest change for this bike is the addition of the RockShox Bluto suspension fork set at 100mm of travel. Elsewhere you’ll find performance and value oriented spec like Sun Ringle MuleFu 80 Tubeless ready rims and Kenda 4.5″ Juggernaut sport 60 tpi tires.

For drivetrain the Bluto Bloodhound sees a 2×10 drivetrain with SRAM X7 Type 2 rear derailleur. Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes slow you down, and a Ritchey cockpit proivdes control. The carbon frame rolls with a 120mm threaded BB for the wider q-factor cranks to clear big tires, and the rear runs a 197×12 thru axle and even includes rack mounts.

With bikes headed out to dealers next week, Bloodhounds will sell for $2599 for the Bluto model and $2199 for the standard.

what’s with that last bit of cable routing to the front derailleur? Messy job or misplaced mounts on frame?

Doesn’t look like they used the cable stop on the seat tube…hope that is just a setup error and not an actual missing part on the bike. Seems like it would shift pretty crappy like that.

Did you guys click on the full-sized picture of the drivetrain? Looks like that SRAM X.5 front derailleur has an integrated cable stop and is specifically designed for full-length shift housing up front.

For 1000.00 less you can get the same bike in aluminum from bikesdirect.com. called the strugis.

Buy that. Buy a 400.00 Chinese carbon frame from eBay and you got the same thing, plus you can sell the aluminum frame and save 600.00.

Your welcome qbp.

Yep! You could get it from bikes direct! And it will be covered or backed by no one, no service from a shop, built by joe blow in his bedroom, and will come with incompatible or just plain broken components (have seen multiple times doing builds for people who bought from bikes direct)! So, with your mostly working Wal-Mart build in hand, you can then sink money and time into it by replacing the frame, and spend the rest of what you saved on service! Meanwhile, you could have patronized a business that advocates and creates a real-world cycling community, and the guy who did has been riding this whole time!
Also, you’re*.

Direct Mount front derailleurs do away with a requirement for a cable stop on the frame by running full length housing right to the derailleur. They’re fully compatible with frames that do have cable stops though, and are dual-pull as well.
