Back when we first caught wind of (and rode) Hope’s versatile new mid-travel UK-made trail bike, they teased a frame-only option. But then only two SRAM X01/AXS complete bike builds were actually available. Now the HB.130 is finally ready as a frame kit, with some core Hope components included and the sky as the limit for your next trail bike dream build…
Hope HB.130 frame kit opens up custom build possibilities
It’s hard to argue with the quality SRAM X01 Eagle or even upgraded X01 AXS spec of the complete HB.130 bikes, and Hope does offer component color selection in the completes. But a lot of riders who are going to put down their money of a UK-made carbon & meticulously machined alloy bike from Hope are going to want something truly unique.
So instead of just dropping a bare frame or frame & shock in your hands, Hope does what they do best, and their frame kit includes the HB.130 with your choice of either a Fox DPX2 or a Ohlins TTX Air shock for the same price, then adds in a pair of Hope Pro 4 hubs, a Hope headset, bottom racket, chain guide & bolt-on seat clamp.
HB.130 tech details
For a quick refresher, the 2.76kg carbon main frame with machined & bonded alloy rear triangle (a large including the Fox shock) is Hope’s second in-house manufactured mountain bike, combining 29er wheels with 130mm of flip chip adjustable rear wheel travel. Full details of the new bike are here, then check out our first rides on the well-put-together bike. But suffice it to say, it is a modern geometry, mid-travel trail bike “with undeniable quality, impressive attention to detail, and a ride to back it up.”
HB.130 frame kit pricing & availability
The new HB.130 trail bike comes in three frame sizes (M, L, XL) each of which can be run in high & low positions with its flip chip to tweak angles by 1/2 a degree, and also BB height. The newly available frame kit with frame, shock, hubs, headset, BB, & chain guide sells for £3950 / $4950 / 4700€. The frame comes in just a single color option – raw carbon front with black ano rear – but you do get to pick the color of the frame hardware.
Suspension pivot hardware is offer in seven hope anodized colors (red, orange, blue, purple, silver, black & green), and you can of course match those to the Hope add-on components in the frame kit to go full matchy-matchy.
Then it’s just up to you to figure out what build kit to adorn this killer trail bike. Maybe some Hope brakes & a stem will be a good start…
