The longtime helmet manufacturer Lazer has developed a better way to enjoy music, podcasts, and stay connected with other riders in the peloton or on the trail — the Lazer VeloVox. The hands-free communication and audio device is designed with cyclists in mind, connecting up to 30 riders.

Essentially, they’re like mini Bluetooth speakers for each ear.

Don’t be “That Guy,” Use the Lazer VeloVox Instead

We’ve all come across “that guy.” You’re pedaling up some singletrack, enjoying a peaceful time in the woods, when you start hearing the familiar sound of a dubstep beat. The noise gets louder and louder, until you finally pass the source — “that guy” playing his music through a Bluetooth speaker for all to enjoy.

Or perhaps you’re trying to squeeze by a slower cyclist ahead of you, calling out your presence so as not to startle them. You begin to squeeze by on their left, where they have provided little to no room in the bike lane. Why? Their earbuds have prevented them from hearing anything around them.

Lazer’s VeloVox saves you from being “that guy” on your next ride while still allowing you to enjoy a podcast or your favorite dubstep banger. VeloVox clips directly to the ear straps on either side of a helmet, delivering crisp audio with advanced wind and noise cancellation. However, the open-ear concept allows riders to still engage with the world around them.

The VeloVox audio system is slim and discreet, easily fitting on most half-shell helmets, and doesn’t interfere with eyewear. Each VeloVox system features a simple two-button interface per unit, with the left side dedicated to group communication and the right side to music/audio and call control.

Lazer VeloVox Integration

“VeloVox is all about enhancing the ride experience — connecting cyclists without distractions, and delivering sound where and when it matters,” Peter Duynslaeger, Lazer General Manager, said. “Whether it’s for team strategy, safety, or sharing the joy of the ride, this is a tool that adapts to how real riders ride”.

To achieve this enhanced ride experience, both in connection and safety, Lazer has partnered with Shimano, integrating the VeloVox with select Shimano technologies. The VeloVox system can be controlled through Shimano Di2 shifters, as well as the Shimano STEPS e-bike system. This allows riders to keep their hands on the bars and eyes ahead.

Lazer partnered with Cardo Systems in the development of VeloVox, a group that is at the forefront of communication devices for groups in motion. Cardo’s technology is prevalent in over 100 countries and is a world leader in communication connectivity for outdoor enthusiasts. The VeloVox system uses the Cardo Connect app, available in the App Store or on Google Play.

Looks a lot like the Aleck Punks system. I do not ride with any music, but iff you are into it, better than earbuds

Id reject these outright because my Shokz can be used without a helmet so they’d be more useful, but these could maybe dual purpose act like those Cat Ears wind break things
