BELL, a name solely associated with bicycle helmets until now, have finally ventured beyond the head protection products that have performed so well across disciplines, pushing their product line all the way down your face to the matter of vision. We’ve been teased with the Bell Descender MTB goggle for quite some time, ever since a pre-production prototype was shown in September last year. The Enduro and Downhill MTB goggle is finally available; here are the details.
BELL Descender Downhill and Enduro MTB goggle
Unlike many “MTB goggles” on the market, the new Bell Descender MTB goggles aren’t an evolution of motocross goggles. Rather, they have been designed from the ground up specifically for enduro and downhill mountain biking. Pushing the product on its low weight and plentiful ventilation, Bell say the Descender is everything you need on the mountain, and nothing you don’t.
The Bell Descender was designed to perfectly fit Bell’s enduro and downhill helmet line-up, and is said to fit most other brands helmets too, while also being a suitable size for stowing underneath most helmet peaks. Available with multiple mirrored and tinted lenses, and also clear ones, the Descender comes in no fewer than 12 goggle colorways, seven mirrored and 5 clear, all offering a wide and tall field of view.
The lenses of the Bell Descender offer full protection from both UVA, UVB and UVC radiation, down to wavelengths of 400 nm, and are certified to CE EN 1938, a European Standard that specifies the requirements and test methods for goggles for use by motorcycle users, intended for eye-protection both on and off-road.
The Bell Descender frame is constructed from lightweight polyurethane, with a thermoformed contoured nose region, and features a premium 45mm Jacquard strap with a silicone layer to keep the goggles firmly in place.
Pricing and Availability
The Bell Descender MTB goggles are available from today from online and high street Bell retailers with a price tag of $49.95 for the mirrored lens version, and just $39.95 for clear lens versions. The goggles are adult one size only, and replacement lenses come in the form of the REVO Blue, Red and Green mirrored lenses, and clear. Alas, still no mention from Bell of their new Reflex lens technology. Stay tuned.
