Creating a circle of light seems to be a growing trend these days. Light & Motion debuted their VIS series at Sea Otter, and now Princeton Tec unveils the Push.

Getting its name from a “conveniently large push button” used to power it up, the Push pumps out 100 lumens from a Maxbright LED in the front and flashing red light through side windows. The effect is 260º visibility, helping those in front of and beside you see you better.

The quick release mount will work with any size handlebar, and if you push and hold the button, you can toggle the blinking side lights off for use on the trail (unless you want the deer to see you). The front light has high, low and flash modes for up to 63 hours of run time. You can also unclip the light from the bracket and use it as a flashlight or just removed for quick anti-theft stowage. MSRP is $49.99.

Broke after 5 days. I’ll start by stating that this is a great compact, light, and bright light. Unfortunately it has a huge design flaw. The bulb case is metal and attaches to a plastic battery case. My light came off after I went over a pothole – the light hit the ground and the plastic seal snapped off making the thing inoperable. Buyer beware – great if you have smooth roads, but consider a better fastened light if your ride is on uneven roads.

UPDATE – Long overdue update. Princeton Tec’s customer service was amazing. The replacement light also “snapped” at the crown. I contacted customer service once more and was informed that weakness had been fixed and was then sent a third (!) light – 6 months later and this one is holding up well – no issues (so far!). Princeton Tec offered a replacement, refund, or another product from their range – they were great to deal with.
