Phil Gaimon’s latest sponsorship YouTube video just dropped, and in it is a pretty big announcement about bikes. New for Phil for 2026 is a sponsorship from State Bicycle Co. And while the brand has a nice Carbon All Road model, they don’t have a high-end carbon aero road bike. Well, not yet anyway.

In the video and on Instagram, Phil leaks what seems to be the new State Carbon Aero Road bike. This model seems to be a dedicated road bike with aero features like integrated cables, a one-piece stem/bar option, and an aero seat post, without an astronomical price tag. According to Phil, State will have a complete version available for under $4k. That build probably won’t be under 14lbs, but this can apparently be built as low as 13.5 lbs or even lighter.

We’ll have more on the Phil Gaimon/State Bicycle Co partnership soon.

Shallow wheels…massive fail.

Most riders who race aren’t doing hill climbs, they’re going to be doing criteriums and timed fondos. Now they’ve got to spend $2k on wheels.

Phil built his own frame. Completes on our end will be with Zipp 404 or DT A1800 wheels for entry builds

And how about disclosing that this is a rebranded Speeder SC-R55D open mold frame with the T47 bb option?

What, you didn’t think we’d know?

How do it’s exactly that frame? How would you know if the design was modified for State or that it’s really a different frame that looks similar? Oh, I know: you saw a picture. Therefore it must be the same.

And why would anything like have to be disclosed? Do you demand such disclosure on every bike part or even just every frame from every manufacturer?

no sleep til every D2C cycling brand tells me which open-mold frames they are selling. I DEMAND answers.

It is exactly that frame.

And why? Because you’re missleading people, when you tell them you made a new high end aero race bike. They’re rebranding someone elses work. Nothing wrong with it, but own it.

Are you OK? No, really, are you? It’s important to me to know that your mental health is holding strong, and at the moment, it appears you’re falling a bit short.

Apparently, you’re not familiar with State’s products…it’s no secret that they are mostly all rebranded (afaik).

This. Just another overpriced rebranded Chinertown frame.

Why would a weekend crit warrior need to spend $2k on wheels? I can tell you firsthand, not one single person at the office park crit where you win gift cards for local bike shops is going to be impressed. If you want to spend $2k on wheels, spend it. But you don’t need to. There isn’t on jobber racing office park crits that NEEDS to do that.

We haven’t seen the production bike yet. It could have full HED Jet RCDs for all we know.

I love this! State makes much more sense as a partner for Phil than Factor ever did. When you look at his clothing sponsor, The Black Bibs, their whole ethos is great products at a low price with zero fluff. I view State Bikes the same way. His YouTube video spelled it out nicely, he’s working with partners that aren’t spending hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars sponsoring world tour teams and as such, they are far more accessible to the vast majority of cyclists.

And before y’all hate on me for that, if you are reading Bike Rumor, you aren’t headed to the World Tour. Why spend more to buy that gear?

This is exactly the kind of nuanced, totally chill discussion I expected.

It’s cool to see state introduce this frame, but also funny as it’s the same mold as the Tavelo and the Oaks you see over in the states. So it’s nothing super new, but hopefully cheaper than what both Tavelo and Oak offer.

Let’s all take a moment to thank the internet police for letting us know we’re all supposed to be bitter, miserable cucks.
