While we were running through the halls of Eurobike a couple of weeks ago and head into the massive Vegas convention center of Interbike this week to dig up the next greatest new bikes and gear for the next year, you have the chance to get outside in the wilds of Colorado to ride all the new mountain toys without the tradeshows wearing you down. On the slopes above Vail, the Outlier Offroad is a last hurrah of summer mountain biking, with the opportunity to demo new bikes all day, enjoy a few beers with friends all evening, and even compete for the $25,000 of prize money for the richest bootleg XC and enduro races ever.
It all happens in a week and a half, from September 25-27, so jump past the break quickly and get all the details…
From the same minds who brought the Breckenridge Firecracker 50 and the Breck Epic, comes a new event to combat the tiny off-road test track of Eurobike’s Demo Day and the sweltering desert trails of Interbike’s Outdoor Demo, and to bring all of those the new bikes to the people who really matter – the end users. This September 25-27 Outlier Offroad is bringing together bikes from some of the best in the industry, all supported by SRAM and RockShox suspension, to give consumers a chance to preview what they will be wanting to buy in the spring when all the new goodies make their way to our local bike shops.
The Outlier Offroad is a lift-served chance to get on some new bikes, but also combines with a few unsanctioned, but sometime very competitive races from XC to enduro. The events include: a unsanctioned XC race and three-stage enduro race with 8-10,000ft of drop, that together split a $25,000 purse evenly between men and women, plus a gran fondo ride with a ton of Colorado gravel (bring fat tires!)
So far the confirmed list of companies demoing the new gear include: SRAM, Scott Bikes, Specialized Bicycles, Ibis, Santa Cruz, Juliana, Yeti, Trek Bicycles, Stan’s NoTubes, Ergon Bike, Giant Bicycles, Crank Brothers, Domahidy Designs, QLOOM Apparel, Rudy Project, DT Swiss, Elevated Legs, Compel Wear, Hagan AT Skis, Vail Valley MTB Association, Dirt Rag, Alchemy Bikes. And more keep signing up every day.
A weekend of trail riding and fun awaits, and coincides with the Top Shelf Harvest distillery and restaurant event, Vail’s Farmer’s Market and Art Show, and the alt-activities of Adventure Ridge at 10,350ft. There’s plenty more info at the event website, but get sorted quickly as the event is almost here!
