Originally launched with claims of 4-8 watt savings, Silca’s Aero Socks now come in four new colors and an all-new Tall version in six solids, plus new colors for their Gravel Merino Wool socks, too.
They also just released two new press-on chucks for Schrader valves, making it quick and easy to pump up any tire, and instantly upgrade almost any old pump or air compressor.
New Silca Tall Aero Socks
Using the same “Turbulator” raised knit chevrons on the back half of the socks as the originals, the Tall Aero versions have a UCI-maximum 19.5cm cuff. The raised surfaces improve laminar flow, reducing turbulence off the back and, thus, drag. They also claim 4-8 watts savings over smooth socks (but, interestingly, on par with ribbed socks).
They’re knit with QSkin yarn, a synthetic infused with silver ions to prevent bacterial growth and odor…and it’s soft. A flat toe seam further improves fit and comfort. Available in S/M/L/XL sizes, they’re $30 per pair.
…and new colors for Aero and Wool Gravel socks
Four new colors – Camo, Gulf Racing, Mellow Yellow, and Sunset – join the Aero lineup, which has a 16.5cm cuff. MSRP is $30 per pair.
The Gravel Wool socks add Merlot and Monday Blues. They’re Merino wool plus QSkin and Elastane, with extra cushioning at the toe box for more comfort and wicking, but not under the heel so your shoes fit snug where it matters. $30 per pair.
Silca Schradero Chucks
The new Schradero Chucks replace standard pump chucks with press-on heads. Offered in two versions – one to thread into existing pumps, and a barbed one that presses into almost any hose on any pump.
They’re also compatible with air compressors, making them great for car tires, too. They press onto any Schrader valve stem, hold tight, then pull off easily when done. $35 each.
