Deon Retief had the goal of “becoming the Apple of the bicycle industry” when he started Silverback Bikes back in 2010. Retief, the CEO, Founder, and Owner of Germany’s Silverback thinks their S-Electro Pro CF-1 carbon enduro bike will help achieve that goal.

The S-Electro Pro CF is Silverback’s flagship enduro bike with geometry that they say resembles their new Slider Enduro bike. The Pro CF is equipped with what Silverback calls POP geometry that uses a modified “Faux bar” suspension layout, “creating an enduro-ready, long-travel, 29” wheeled eBike” that is also 27.5″ wheel compatible.

The Pro CF uses a carbon frame that includes full internal cable/hose routing. The Metric trunnion mount rear shock is custom tuned to work with the Pro CF’s suspension. They claim that the CF Pro has an efficient climbing platform when in climbing mode, switch it to open mode to get the bike set up as a “race-ready” descender.

The Shimano pedal-assist drive system makes getting your S-Electro Pro CF to the top of the trails much easier, saving your energy for the descents, and leaving the need for the chair lifts in the dust.

The S-Electro Pro-CF is powered by the Shimano EP8 electric motor. It’s paired with a 36v, 720Wh internal battery that charges to 80% in 3 hours. The range on the Pro-CF is 30 -100km (18 – 62 miles) depending on levels of assist, terrain, and riding style.

looks like they added a bunch of spacers to make room for that headset cable routing. Kinda undermines the clean look that routing is supposed to achieve.

Apple was innovative and nimble, creating a product unlike anything on the market (and I’m a droid user), becoming the top in the field (to some at least. See prev parentheses). So what exactly is so innovative about this rig that will cause legions of riders to line up and wait for the next new Silverback? Not the geo, not the tech, not the aesthetic. I hate to beat up on a company, but just because you have the money and confidence to start one doesn’t mean you know how to.

Agree. Don’t go claim you’re striving to be the next Apple and then have a dated design. Just be honest.

The Apple part is a joke right? Because this thing looks like a white label special not an innovative cutting edge machine. 2015 wants its e-bike back.
