A few weeks ago at the Tour Down Under we profiled the Swift Hypervox of Drapac’s Graeme Brown. His team’s bikes were the only ones at the race not built up with the new SRAM Red eTap group. But an eagle-eyed reader name Brett was quick to notice the new graphic design of the group, with a look much like that of the new eTap. Now a couple of weeks later, SRAM has confirmed that the new look will cover all Red groups for 2016. Take a closer look after the break…

SRAM says the new look is intended to make it easier for them to mix and match the electronic and mechanical elements of the two Red groups. Red remains the lightest groupset on the market, and while many teams are going eTap, many will stick with the mechanical group, at least for the time being.

Besides just a different, lower-key logo SRAM says the new look combines overlapping textures and mix of matte and gloss black finishes. The new components will be available from March, with the new Quarq power meter already available.

I think it looks great, not ugly. Especially on a modern frame. With no wires!

SRAM versus SHIMANO. This is a proper battle.

There was a third brand there somewhere but I can’t remember their name.

intolerance and cynicism

way to go calling it “red” now when customers come in without bike in hand Ill have so much fun trying to guess whether they want old ten speed crap or eleven speed electric crap
