As we’ve seen in all of the Sea Otter Classic coverage, the 32″ wheel is comin’ in hot. So, it’s not surprising that I have some fresh news on that front. Meet Stinner Frameworks‘ new Refugio Podium 32″.

This new bike aims to take advantage of the 32″ wheel’s ability to smooth out rough terrain. The larger wheels help to roll over roots and other trail obstacles more easily than other, more traditional wheel sizes.

The frame geometry focuses on maintaining stable handling characteristics while taking advantage of the momentum that larger wheels can provide.

The Santa Barbara-based Stinner crew handmakes each frame.

The Refugio Podium 32″ is being offered as a limited production run of just 50 frames. The frame will be available in medium through extra-large sizes, with custom geometry options available for riders who want that specific fit.

Who makes a nice 20-40mm drop 60mm stem so I can ride this “medium”

starting your size at Medium is just downright disingenuous about bike fit.

How is this disingenuous? Not every bike should fit every body type.

Syntace or FSA both have a stem with crazy drop in relatively short lengths

Looks nice! Great value proposition for a made in USA Ti frame. 1x only, 38T max is a total fail! The bigger 32″ wheels need a greater gear range. How in the hell are you going to bomb down Gibralter on a 38T?

I don’t see any problem there. Even on a 29er a 38t ring is quite big. And with even bigger wheels you could pedal up to speeds were it doesn’t make sense to even pedal

a 38t ring is quite big. And with even bigger wheels you could pedal up to speeds were it doesn’t make sense to even pedal You should be ashamed of yourself! You can easily hit over 50mph on those Santa Barbara descents but not when limited with only a wimpy 38T. Shame on you Stinner, we need 2x gearing.

I have a 700c Ti Stinner gravel bike that I love! If I had the dough, I would absolutely buy one of these. It’s a straight up great deal for a Ti American made frame at the cutting edge of new tech. Nice work Stinner!
