Storck’s New 12lb Fascenario, Revised Absolutist and Entry Level Scenero Carbon Road Bikes

Storck Bicycles has some interesting things going on, and not just with their bikes. Sometime between now and next April, they’ll be announce their own U.S. distribution company called Storck Bicycles USA and parting ways with Hawley…and Chris Sugai from Niner is part of the new set up (it’ll be run entirely separate from Niner, so, no, they’re not starting to make road bikes). Dealers can order from the new company already.

Now, about those new bikes. The all-new Fascenario 0.6 above is the highlight for 2011. They claim it’s the lightest bicycle fuselage at about 1,700g for frame, fork, brakes, cranks and headset. MSRP is $9,000 just for the fuselage, and about $15,000 as shown.

The frame is made like the Fascenario 0.7 with a vacuum during molding. Is pulls out about 30% more resin than normal construction processes and also compresses the tubes a lot better. Available in Spring 2011 in the US, earlier in Europe.

The complete bike weighs in at just 12lbs 10oz. Thanks to the Storck dealers at Clemmons Bicycle in NC for holding the scale!

Besides the vacuum molded frame construction, a big part of the weight savings comes from integrating the brakes into the frame. The Fascenario 0.6 uses the same full carbon, internal brakes as their Aero triathlon/time trial bike.

Above two photos are the front brakes, which you can hardly even see from the front of the bike.

The rear brakes are equally integrated.

Besides being integrated, the brake parts themselves are beyond light:

The next step was using Storck’s extremely lightweight house brand carbon cranks and integrating the bottom bracket into the frame.

The minimalist rear dropouts and Lightweight carbon wheels don’t hurt at the scale either.

Syntace components complete the ultralight build.

For 2011, Storck has introduced a new Absolutist model with a 970g frame like the 0.9 frames, but with a mixture of frame features between the 1.0 and 0.9.

It has the more comfortable rear end of the 1.0.

The front triangle is lighter like the 0.9 but about 15% to 20% stiffer at the head tube and bottom bracket depending on frame size.

Framesets will be $2,500 USD and will hit  the U.S. at the end of September.

The 2011 Storck Scenero is a brand new model aimed at the entry level market.

It has an 1150g frame and complete bike price of $3,000 USD with Shimano 105. Frameset with fork and headset is $1,650. As shown, it weighed in around 17.6 lbs.

The Scenero will be available in October in 47, 51 and 63 will be available in October, other sizes coming in November.

Not shown here, their best selling bike, the Fenomalist, gets new matte white and black colors. For $3,300 you get the 900g frame and 355g fork with a headset.
