GORE have unveiled their Spring collection of mountain biking kit, just in time for the coming April showers. This season, they’ve gone for lightweight, waterproof jackets and shorts that pack down small. On the road, GORE have teamed up with none other than Classics legend Fabian Cancellara, releasing dedicated racing kit designed by the man himself. Suplest team up with Fabian too, to create a limited edition gold accented Cancellara Edge+ Road pro shoe.
Spring 2020 GORE MTB Kit
As the weather can be a little unpredictable at this time of year, it’s hard to know what to wear for riding. Layering is key, but this strategy is only effective if your kit is lightweight and packable. GORE’s solution is the new 2020 Spring kit, comprising lightweight, packable jackets and shorts. Namely, the GORE C5 GORE-TEX Trail Hooded Jacket and Paclite Trail Shorts. GORE say these items of kit are light and packable enough that you’d want to carry them with you on rides, just in case the showers hit, or the wind picks up. No one likes getting caught out by the weather, 20 km from home with a savage head wind to deal with.
The C5 Trail Hooded Jacket is available for both men and women, in size ranges S-XXL, and XS-XL, respectively. Both have GORE’s premium price tag of $279.99. The GORE-TEX PACLITE® Plus fabric allows this jacket to pack down very small while strategically placed GORE-TEX Active panels increases breathability in key areas. All the while, the GORE-TEX membrane provides waterproofing. The men’s jacket is available in black, deep water blue, and citrus green/terra grey colorways. Get the women’s in Terra Grey, Hibiscus Pink or Orbit Blue colorways.
The C5 GORE-TEX Paclite Trail Shorts cost $159.99, available only for men. The shorts weigh a claimed four ounces, though the size is not mentioned. Offered in black and deep water blue, GORE offer the Paclite Trail Shorts in S to XXL. GORE reckon these shorts are extremely breathable, ultralight and packable while durably waterproof, windproof and robust. They feature one zippered waterproof pocket at the side. A full length Paclite Trail Pant is also available for men. It will set you back $189.99.
Completing the Spring 2020 collection is the GORE® C5 Trail Jersey, designed for warm weather trail riding. The Jersey is meant to be loose fitting and lightweight. It comes in bright colors and long sleeve, 3/4 sleeve and short sleeve variants.
GORE Cancellara Road Cycling Kit
The limited edition GORE Cancellara collection comprises a Shakedry jacket, C7 Race Bib Short+ and Jersey, socks and gloves, plus a C5 Cancellara kit. Designed from the ground up, the C7 Race Bib Short+ is said to deliver all-around comfort and a compressive race fit. From afar, the print looks like polka dots but it’s actually an array of Heptagons, with ‘7’ said to be Cancellara’s favourite number. Why? Because throughout his career he picked up 7 Spring Classics victories and won the prologue of the Tour de France on 7.7.2007.
The C7 GORE Cancellara Race Bib Shorts+ will set you back an eye watering $289.99. The Jersey costs $209.99, the Shakedry Stretch Jacket $389.99, the gloves $39.99 and the socks $24.99. That’s a sum total of $954.95 to look like Fabian. Worth it, if only it could make you as fast as him, too.
