Not to be confused with the latest trend of flat bar gravel bikes, fitness hybrids are alive and well. These bikes offer a sporty, but more upright riding position perfectly suited to bike path journeys or quick spins around town. Liv has offered their Alight range for years, but the 2022 Alight range features an updated frame with a shapely design and a new fork as well.

The new range features the Alight DD Disc Series and Alight Disc Series, which in addition to disc brakes that offer more reliable braking in wet or dry conditions, come with increased tire clearance courtesy of the front fork. Liv calls out clearance that has been bumped to 45mm at the fork. Nothing is listed for tire clearance of the frame, but we’ve seen a maximum of 40mm tire clearance listed in various places online. In stock form, the bikes all seem to include 700c x 38mm tires though, so there’s probably room for improvement.

The 6061 aluminum frames now have some more shapely tube shapes with a slightly dropped seatstay design. There are multiple mounting points for accessories, though there is also an Alight DD Disc 2 City that comes pre-equipped with fenders and a rear rack.

The Alight Disc series frame includes an optional step-through design that helps riders easily mount and dismount without throwing a leg over a high top tube. Both frame designs will be offered in the standard builds or the City builds with fenders and a rack.

Puncture resistant tires and reflective highlights included in both models lessen the chance for pesky flats, and increase safety for city-centric riders.

Liv prides itself on its commitment to getting more women on bikes, offering both bikes and accessories tailored to women. Their bikes optimize fit and function specifically for women, and provide options tailored to anyone from professional cyclists to casual riders.

The Alight Disc range draws upon women’s body dimension data to pinpoint the perfect geometry based upon height and intended use. Liv says that makes for a better fitting and performing bike for women.
