Indoor training just got a lot closer to the outdoors. TrainingPeaks Virtual has launched World Routes, the first phase of its new GPXplore section, allowing riders to experience real-world courses within the platform. For the first time, athletes can line up against iconic climbs from around the globe—and the list is stacked.

What’s New on TrainingPeaks Virtual?
Now you can climb six legendary acents and feel what it’s like to scale, chase the professionals. The list includes;
- Passo dello Stelvio — Italy
- Flagstaff Mountain — Colorado, USA
- Koppenberg — Flanders, Belgium
- Sa Calobra — Mallorca, Spain
- Alpe d’Huez — France
- Parc du Mont-Royal Circuit — Quebec, Canada
This move brings indoor prep in line with real-world demands, giving athletes the ability to train on the same climbs they’ll face in races or travel adventures. And soon, riders will be able to upload their own GPX files, expanding GPXplore into a true “any route, any time” tool.

More Than Just New Roads
World Routes is part of TrainingPeaks Virtual’s steady evolution since launching last year. The platform has already rolled out:
- Enhanced physics & graphics — new cornering physics mimic outdoor handling.
- Accessible pricing — Virtual access is included with TrainingPeaks Premium.
- Redesigned bikes & gear — sleeker models that feel more authentic.
- Upgraded visuals & UI — a cleaner interface, a new home screen, and yes, even cows.
- Free 4 All Tuesday — the first Tuesday of every month, anyone can ride the platform for free.
Together, these updates aim to make TrainingPeaks Virtual the most performance-focused indoor training environment available, where real-world courses, pro kits, and tactical racing all live under one roof.
When Can You Ride Them?
The six new World Routes are now available to current subscribers. If you’re not a member, you’ll have the opportunity to test them during the next FREE 4 All Tuesday (every Tuesday in September), when the platform opens up to everyone.
For athletes who want to prepare specifically for the climbs they’ll face outdoors—or just tick off bucket-list ascents without leaving the basement—this update bridges the gap between indoor training and outdoor racing better than ever.
