PRESS RELEASE: Trek has built and released a mobile app for the upcoming Trek CX Cup and the inaugural Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup Waterloo to provide athletes and spectators with a seamless mobile experience, single point of event information, and easy race registration. The app includes a full race calendar with registration links for the entire weekend’s slate of amateur racing, as well as the Lakefront Brewery Legends Race featuring Sven Nys and Jens Voigt. Users are encouraged to enable push notifications to get up to the minute updates on special events and offers available only at the live venue, as well as race results. Users of the app in the United States will also be able to watch the entire livestream broadcast of both the Women’s and Men’s Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup Waterloo races, provided free courtesy of Segafredo, without having to leave the platform. The Trek CX Cup/World Cup Waterloo app is a free download available now for both iOS and Android devices on Apple’s App Store as well as Google Play Store by searching “Trek CX Cup.”
“This is going to be an amazing event and we’re thinking through every touchpoint our guests would want to have, and mobile is a big part of that,” said Trek Brand Manager Eric Bjorling. “We have built this app around the racer and spectator’s needs whether they’re here in Wisconsin or watching the racing from California.”
The app also includes food and beverage menus and concession locations, a map of the venue and course, available parking, and points of interest. The app allows users to join the conversation surrounding the race on Facebook and Twitter without having to leave the platform. Perhaps most significantly, the mobile platform will also decrease waste of printed materials, as Trek does not plan to print course maps, rosters, or programs.
In addition to being the first World Cup to offer a dedicated mobile app, Trek has ensured that the Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup Waterloo will be the first World Cup to offer equal payouts to the men’s and women’s fields, along with being the only World Cup that is free to attend. The Trek CX Cup begins Friday, September 22 with the first ever Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup Waterloo set for Sunday, September 24.
